Description
I inquired about an apartment listing on Redfin. I received a text message from “Adam” stating that I needed to fill out a pre-screening application through a link and that the agent or owner would reach out to me to schedule a tour. I asked about the $49.00 application fee. He said, “The $49 pre-screening fee is refundable if you decide not to move forward after touring the property. If you're not accepted, you won't lose the fee.” I never heard from anyone about scheduling the tour. I tried looking at the property listing to see if there was another form pr contact. The listing said it was not longer available. I asked when I would get my refund for the application fee and Adam said, “The pre-screening fee is only refundable if you choose not to move forward after touring the property. If you didn't tour, unfortunately, the fee isn't refunded.” I told him that's ridiculous and I was waiting for someone to schedule the tour with and never heard from them and that I am going to send in a complaint about this practice and write a bad review about this. He said, “I get why you're frustrated. The fee is only refundable if you toured and then decided not to move forward. Sorry for the hassle-wish I could help more.”
