Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I purchased two $200 pre-paid Mastercards at WalMart. On the back and front of the card, it states to call 1-833-623-4268. I spoke with Melody who refuses to activate my pre-paid cards unless I provide sensitive information (like me name, address, and details of the card) and sign up to receive a "free" $100 gas or grocery card. Pre-paid cards should not require to know my sensitive information to activate. I attempted to decline the offer and she hung up. I called back to try and activate again and she declined to activate the card. Melody is stating she is a Mastercard employee and is not. This should be an automated phone system. Card Purchased at WalMart in Florence, KY on 11/25/2025. Calls occurred on 11/26/2025 at 2:30 pm EST.
