A one-page letter was delivered by U.S. first class mail. Anthony Castel, Attorney at law, describes how a client has passed away from COVID four years ago, leaving a life insurance policy worth $11,500,000, but has no surviving heirs. Since my (married) last name and the client's were the same, Mr. Castel is presenting "an opportunity to be recognized as the beneficiary of this policy." He is proposing that 10% is donated to charity, and the remaining 90% is split between us equally. In the body of the letter, at one point names the deceased client as "MR. (X), respected Stock Broker and Retired CPA..." In another sentence, "we have been unable to locate any living relatives or claimants to HER estate." (capital letters mine).
