Description
Very hard to understand male called my husband cell phone (dump phone - flip phone) and asked if I was satisfied with the reception. Then asked if I was satisfied with my billed amount. He stated that many people are leaving Verizon due to poor reception and too high bills. As a result, Verizon is picking customers to receive a Discount Loyalty Program of 40% bill reduction for 2 years, and because of the discount I would not have to pay the November bill at all. I asked his why he was calling from a Rapid City number instead of Verizon's 800 number if he really was from Verizon and his response was "because" then he did a lot of stuttering. He asked me to verify my information and I told him if he was from Verizon, he should already have that. At this time he asked me to stay on the line for a moment. There was dead space. I assumed at that point he was trying to gain information from my cell phone; which surprise you scammer, you can't get information from a dumb phone (flip phone), so jokes on you! At that point, I hung up and immediately called my local Verizon store. They told me yes it's a scam, no there is no such loyalty program available and even their employees don't get that kind of discount. Please, let everyone know not to give out any information to someone calling your and appearing to be from Verizon. Oh, and he didn't identify himself as so and so from Verizon upon me answering the phone, just immediately started in asking his questions.
