Description
I applied to a Assisting Project Coordinator position on Indeed at a company called Innovative Pet Lab. I received a message on Indeed from someone called Laci Brown telling me that I didn't get it but she referred me to a client of theirs that was looking to fill a remote position and told me to email [email protected] and send my resume. This message is as follows: "Thank you for applying for the Assisting Project Coordinator position at Innovative Pet Lab. We carefully reviewed your skills and qualifications and have decided to move forward with another candidate for the position. We appreciate the time you invested to apply for this position at Innovative Pet Lab. However, we have referred you to one of our clients looking to fill a remote position. If you are interested, please forward your resume to this email address [email protected] Thank you, again, for your interest in our company. Laci Brown" I did so and 12 minutes later received a lengthy response. It is as follows: "Thank you for your email and for forwarding your resume. This is a full-time remote position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. While the initial expectation is full-time, I am open to discussing part-time flexibility depending on your availability and how well it suits the needs of the role. The responsibilities of the position include a variety of administrative and support tasks such as schedule management, appointment setting, and managing correspondence. There will be other support duties as well, which I will elaborate on. To give you some background about myself, I am a retired real estate attorney. While I am no longer actively practicing law, I continue to be involved in personal and small real estate ventures. I am currently in Montreal for a work engagement and anticipate returning to my base in Naples, Florida, in two weeks. I am offering a competitive compensation package for this role, which includes an hourly rate of $40, translating to $1600 per week for a full-time commitment. In addition to the salary, the position also includes benefits such as health insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off. We can discuss the specifics of these benefits in more detail during our meeting. To move forward with the onboarding process, please reply with the following information: Full Name: Full Mailing Address: Apt #: (if applicable) City, State, Zip Code: Mobile Phone Number: Your Current Occupation: Confirmation of your eligibility to work in the U.S. (Yes/No): I look forward to speaking with you soon and sharing more about the role. Best regards, -- Bridget Moore" I responded with the info requested. 3 weeks later, I received the following response: "Congratulations, you meet my requirements for this role. I am pleased to confirm your position, and all necessary paperwork will be finalized upon my return. In the meantime, I’ll be sending you details of errands to assist with this week, including arranging travel itineraries such as flights and hotels. Please note that my availability may be limited, as I’ll only have access to Wi-Fi at my hotel or office. However, I will respond to your messages as soon as I’m able. Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions at your earliest convenience: Are you eligible to work in the United States? Do you have any criminal records? If yes, please provide details. Are you under the age of 18? If yes, do you have an employment/age certificate? How frequently do you check your email? What days and hours are you available to work? (Please specify your availability, e.g., Available from [start time] to [end time]) I will be emailing again shortly with further information. To ensure you receive all my emails, please add this email address to your contacts list. I look forward to hearing from you soon." This all felt very shady and after doing research, I found that palmwestllc.com doesn't exist. I also found this BBB listing. Beware of Innovative Pet Lab job postings on Indeed and anything related to [email protected]
