I contacted someone about the purchase of a mini dachshund for $890. We were texting back and forth about payment methods. I used Apple Pay. I sent 2 payments from $500 each. They told me the puppy would be shipped from Minnesota to Pittsburgh and deliver to me. I get contacted by the shipping company ( Prestigious Pet Airway) to arrange for a temperature controlled crate rental fee which I was not told about by the breeder. I was told the rental cost was almost $2000 but would be refunded to me upon delivery. I contacted the breeder and told them that if the fee is refundable then they could pay for it. They said that they needed another $500 to completely cover the fee. They assured me that the balance of the $1500 in total minus the cost of the puppy $890 would be refunded to me for a total of $610. When I sent the final $500, I got a message from the breeder telling me the payment was received. I texted them the next afternoon with no response. I texted again in the evening and still no response. With 5 minutes of the second text, I get an email from the shipper saying that the full payment was not paid by the breeder and needed $500 to completely cover the shipping fee. I realized then that it was over.
