I received a letter from a purported (?) medical testing facility regarding a test I did not request to be done that was "ordered" by a doctor I am not associated with. It is unsettling because the letter references my name, address and birthdate. The letter indicates that if it was received in error I should call their telephone number to notify them, and to return the letter. I did neither, assuming it was an elaborate scam. Interestingly, the "ordering" doctor referenced in the letter is known to me (again, I am not his patient) so I showed the letter to him. He was baffled and concerned that his name and address were used. Additionally, he offered up that he has never, nor would he ever order the kind of test that he was alleged to have done in the letter.
