Scammer posed as a fishing guide in the Charleston area, and took a reservation as well as a deposit for a guided fishing trip scheduled for August 2025. The day of the fishing trip, the “guide” was not at the designated meeting point, and was not answering his phone despite multiple attempts to call, text, and email. Over 24 hours later, the “guide” texted saying that there had been a weather cancellation for our trip, with no other information. We disputed this, because we called several other charters trying to get a last minute guide (to no avail) and all these charters still went out on that day. We also learned from the other guides we called that this is a recurring pattern with Will Adams. After we said that to Will, he then changed his story and claimed that he had been trying to contact us but we hadn’t been answering. Then he sent a screenshot of a messaging app we had never heard of or used with supposed messages to us - messages we of course never received. He also claimed he called us, but the number he said he called did not match the contact information we provided while making the reservation. We were eventually able to get a refund via the 3rd party booking software that Will uses (Guidesly), but the guided fishing trip for my fathers 60th birthday trip unfortunately never happened. After further reading online, we see that we are not the first people to have this experience with Will, and this scam appears to have been going on for the past year or so. I encourage others to be extremely cautious booking any services with Will Adams or any company he works for.
