Description
Ashley is purported to be a person interested in buying two dresses on Facebook Marketplace. Her “sister” makes the initial contact. My husband gave the sister my cell number so Ashley could make arrangement to pick up the dresses. Ashley then sends a text to me from an email address. After some back and forth she sends a text showing she sent a payment to Venmo. Then we got an email message stating the payment was on hold due to it being a business account. And that the buyer needs to send an additional $550 for a total of $800 in order to release the 250 payment. Also a snapshot of the phone number to call to have it released. We call the number and they said they would send the additional 550 back to the buyer, but we needed to know if they wanted it back Apple Pay or Cash app not Venmo. So when we questioned the person on the phone about it, they said this is how it is done. So I finally said to the guy, I am not authorizing a transaction to either one of these when there is no money in the Venmo account. That is when the guy hung up on me.
When you call the number this email is sent to you. [email protected].
