Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I received a similar scam to my aol email, Subject Line: "URGENT: TOLL VIOLATION NOTICE stating: "Dear [email protected], Our automated toll collection system has recorded an unpaid toll transaction associated with your vehicle. This notice serves as your final opportunity to resole this matter before additional penalties are applied.". Outstanding balance: $19.51 (late fee if not paid within 48 hours: $57.45) Potential vehicle registration hold. Collection agency referral." Also, the email had a "Joseph King, Senior Collections Manager, National Toll authority, [email protected], 1-800-TOLLPAY" I am sure this is a scam because of misspelled words and I received a letter for payment from the Virginia TOLL PAYMENT PROCESSING CENTER after I returned from a road trip to another state.
