Description

Dear Better Business Bureau, I am writing to formally report a case of online fraud involving a deceptive website that impersonates the legitimate outdoor clothing brand Patagonia. Summary of Incident On June 28, 2025, I accessed what appeared to be the official Patagonia website at https://pattagonnia.com/. The site closely mimicked the design, branding, and layout of the authentic Patagonia website (https://www.patagonia.com/home/), and I had no reason to suspect it was fraudulent at the time. I proceeded to make a purchase through the site, using PayPal as the payment method. The transaction was funded via my Chase credit card. Red Flags Noticed Post-Purchase Immediately after the transaction, I identified several red flags indicating that the website was not legitimate: The payment was processed by an unrelated entity named CLAIMS DAMAGE ADJUSTERS L.L.C., which has no apparent connection to Patagonia or any retail business. The PayPal recipient's contact email was listed as [email protected]—an email address that does not appear to be functional or associated with any known business. Shortly thereafter, I received an unsolicited email from [email protected], purporting to offer membership benefits under the Patagonia brand. The email included the following message: "Join Patagonia and Unlock Exclusive Benefits. We are excited to invite you to join Patagonia and become a valued member! As a member, you'll enjoy exclusive offers, the latest news, and a personalized shopping experience. To get started, simply click on the 'REGISTER' button below and create your account: REGISTER for the [email protected]." The email also listed [email protected] as a contact for customer support—another address with no verifiable or legitimate affiliation. Immediate Actions Taken Upon recognizing the fraudulent nature of the transaction, I took the following actions: Reported the transaction to PayPal, including details of the payment and the associated Profile ID: I-VNNSHCRTYRCX. Contacted Chase to report the unauthorized transaction and initiated a chargeback/dispute. Conducted an online search to verify the legitimacy of the entities involved. None of the following showed credible online presence, legitimate registration, or affiliation with Patagonia or any valid commercial entity: CLAIMS DAMAGE ADJUSTERS L.L.C. [email protected] lvulm.store [email protected] PayPal Profile ID: I-VNNSHCRTYRCX Request for Assistance I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau take appropriate investigative and preventive action to: Identify and flag the fraudulent parties involved in this scheme. Warn other consumers about the fake website and its associated email addresses. Take steps to prevent the continued impersonation of reputable brands such as Patagonia through similar domains or tactics. I am prepared to provide supporting documentation—including screenshots, transaction records, and email correspondence—should it assist in your investigation. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued work in protecting consumers from online fraud and identity theft. Sincerely, **** ******** ******************
