Purchased a vehicle from salesman Matt. Initially the sale went well overall and Matt was extremely responsive (** ** *** ******* ** *** *** ****). Matt indicated that the price of the car was a good deal as we were getting $*** winter tires. Sounds like a good deal to me! When we went to pick up the car, the winter tires we got in the sale were not ready for pick up and in storage. How can they be in storage when they knew days ahead that we were picking up the car on a certain date? So upon another trip back to the dealership a week later, the winter tires that were part of the sale are not even usable. This is complete false advertising. They are down to the wear strip. When I called to question Matt about this, he said that the winter tires were a bonus but he was going to look into what he could do and get back to me. Now he’s saying that the tires were a bonus and instead of 4 I guess I only got 2, but the car went through the wash bay twice so that it was nice and shiny. How about giving me the tires I was promised in the deal! Nice how **** *** ***** ** ** **** the story changes. Will be sure to avoid St James VW for my future needs.Review from Matt Z

Dropped off my vehicle for service and I had mentioned that my steering was making a “clunking” noise, along with my engine sounded a bit louder then normal with my only assumption being the belt in the front of the engine bay. I was given a piece of paper to sign with it showing the two different diagnostics that will be done on a time matter only. Each one was ****** and I had asked immediately before signing if I had to pay this at the end of my vehicle appointment and they said. “No, only if we find something and we want to do more investigating then we will charge you on a hourly time matter.” I then waited for 7 hours being the first vehicle in their service bay dropping the vehicle off at 8am and later finding out I am being charged ***$ for my diagnostics where they charged me a full hour where the “Cause of issue” -“normal engine sound” and I was charged ***$ for that. I ended up paying for this in total took my car and left as I had another appointment to get my tires out on. I then took it to the dealer, and when I brought my vehicle in to get my tires put on, as per usual they asked if I needed anything looked at and I had mentioned that I just returned from St James VW and they asked to take a look at the paper, and saw what they had done along with the comments *** **** ** **** * *** ****** *** ** ***** ****. Just picked up a new Taos after putting down a deposit a few weeks ago. When I came to pick up the vehicle I got to see the actual contract. Many hidden costs were included which I did not need or want. these included a* *********** high "documentation fee" of $******, An "etch" charge of $******, a 'Manitoba Package ??" for $******* and a $***** charge for nitrogen, (presumably), in the tires. To top it off they charged $******* for freight when the actual freight charge is $******** After much argument I was able to reduce the excess charges by approximately $*******. Additionally I was not provided with a factory retail sheet outlining the equipment on the vehicle---and the correct freight charge. ** ******** *** review your sales contract before finalizing. I got a brand new Tiguan in May 2021. The fact that the sales person did not even tell me if the service department would keep me informed or book an appointment for my regular service was forgotten due to my excitement. I took my car for the first service. It's been 4 hours and the dealership has not even called me yet. All it needs is an oil change as I recently installed the winter tires and it does not need tire rotation. 4 hours and no response. Time is money, it is very evident that these people do not value time. Horrible experience. Would never recommend anyone to buy through this dealership.St. James Volkswagen Ltd. Response

We're sorry you had a less than favorable experience. We agree time is money and with COVID we are shorter staffed than normal and this is why we offer our customers a pick-up service, shuttle rides or use of a loaner vehicle if available. All at no cost to our customers. This, along with the expected ETA for service work is communicated at time of booking and drop off.Review from Mercedes H

Visited St. James Volkswagen with my sister and Grandma. Was looking for a car to finance, had 5000 downpayment.
We went through the process with the sales person, paid 2000 down for now. Later transferred to the finance person. Who was rude ***************** the entire time and not helpful, quick to push people out the door.
We didn't feel our business was valued and after a quick phone call with the finance guy and complete lack of professionalism we decided to go pick up our down payment.
*When we paid our downpayment we were not verbally told that the downpayment is non refundable **********************************************
My sister went in to get the 2000 dollar deposit and after a lengthy ******************** conversation with the Finance guy (Dustin *****)
Dustin****** assumed my family members had financed vehicles in the past *************************************************************** *************************************************************** *******
my sister came back to the car to tell me that Dustin had advised her that "normally the deposits are non refundable, however this one time as a favour I'll give it back to you"
We could have lost 2000 because a finance guy didn't want to give us our money back. ***********************
