      IF YOU NEED TO TREAT YOUR WELL WATER FOR IRON CONTENT, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!What a nightmare! The owner of Kinetico, Placerville is *********************. I called this Company in November 2021 to come fix an ongoing IRON problem with their very expensive equipment, which IS a water softener, not an Iron removal system. The reason I have a Kinetico water softener is NOT because I EVER HAD HARD WATER. NOPE! I have a water softener from Kinetico because back in 2013 a man named ***********************, who owned this very business, sold me one and told me the Kinetico unit does everything. I knew nothing about well water at the time and quickly needed my well water treated, as the wife was appalled with the well water. As it turns out, *** was a con man and I now have a worthless piece of equipment. EVERY person I have spoken to since about water treatment for iron content has asked me, "Why did they sell you a water softener. Your water is not hard at all. They should have sold you an iron removal system." Good ol' *** did not sell me an iron removal system because those units (sold by Kinetico) are about half the price of their water softeners. So the answer is very straightforward and simple and as you will read..... common with this outfit. in a word it comes down to: GREED!$5.000.00 later I learned Kinetico does not tell consumers the entire truth. (This is lieing by omission) Kinetico will not tell YOU that their systems have proprietary filters that you can only purchase from the installing Kinetico dealer. For example, Kinetico's reverse osmosis filters cost over $150.00 for three of them. Yet, Kinetico's claim is how expensive bottled water is. They will not tell you that there are three types of iron in well water. They will not tell you that their water softener only removes one type of iron, (i.e, iron in a ferrous state,) which is iron that is dissolved in the water and you cannot even see until and unless Oxygen hits it. ) So most people never realize it is in the water in the first place and it is HARMLESS to humans and pets.What Kinetico will tell you is that they have a 10 year warranty on their unit, but leave out that they do not honor that warranty. They also leave out that a trip to your home to fix your unit will cost you a minimum $175.00 "service fee." They will not tell you that if they cannot fix your unit and make numerous mistakes....IT IS YOUR FAULT, NOT THEIR FAULT.Here is my story and you decide:Kinetico came to my home in November 2021 to "FIX" my water softener. Their employee rebuilt the main control valve and told me that my unit should now have water with ZERO iron coming into my home. I paid Kinetico $175.00. He also told me to call back if there is a problem. About ten days later the iron problem persisted so I called back. I spoke to a manager, (****) and he told me the tech who came to my home replaced a part he should not have. Kinetico sent another tech who placed the original part back into my unit. That tech told me call back if there is a problem. The iron in my water problem persisted so I called back. The same tech who came to my home on the second visit returned and conducted numerous tests. He determined the resin bed in my water softener was, "SHOT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED."That technician called his Supervisor on my landline phone in front of me and obtained approval to have the resin bed replaced. He told me Kinetico would call me with an appointment. They never did, so I called them. Along came ***** the owner of Kinetico, Placerville, who acted like he knew nothing about any of this. I explained this growing nightmare in detail to ***** who then revealed to me that he had in fact spoken to his technician prior to me even calling Kinetico, after they did not call me. **** stunned me when he said, "There is nothing wrong with your water softener, my tech should not have told you what he did. He is new and I will never send a new tech to your home again, I promise, Sorry!" I was dumbfounded. **** added, "Change your filters." Mind you, his two techs NEVER told me to, "Change your filters!" They did not do that because they saw my filter maintenance schedule with dates I had changed my filters. They have been to my home, whereas, the all knowing ****...never has.**** then began lecturing me about water chemistry and his 13 years in the business and everything else, except the problem with their equipment and the fact I had paid $175.00 and found myself a month later with the original problem. **** THEN told me that he had been "GENEROUS" with his techs and his time, as the techs came to my home 3 times and I had only paid Kinetico $175.00. Again, I was floored. Why did his techs return 3 times? One was the original call, the second was to replace a part that should have evidently not been changed during the first visit and the third was because the problem was never fixed. How is this GENEROUS? Is MY time worth anything or is time only important when Kinetico is burning it?An obvious argument ensued and **** "cautioned me" about yelling at him. **** then went into a familiar tactic people use when they cannot substantiate their ridiculous position. "How can I help you, Mr. ******** I told **** he can help me by fixing my unit that is UNDER WARRANTY. **** finally told me that he would work with me and rebed my unit if I paid Kinetico a $200.00 labor fee. I was angry, but $200.00 beats the price of an entire new system. I told **** I needed to think about his offer and I would call him back. My blood pressure was so high after talking to **** that I needed double doses of my meds to slow it all down. I had my girlfriend call back the next day, for obvious reasons, and set a new appointment and all was set. That night we returned home and **** had left a message asking my girlfriend to call him back. She did the next day, but **** was unavailable. **** called back and I answered the phone. He asked for my girlfriend and I told him she is unavailable and he could book an appointment with me. **** told me, "I'll call back!" I told ***** "NO." **** then told me he and the original tech would come to my home on Monday and "WASH THE ***** BED WITH IRON OUT." This was not what I agreed to, which clearly shows WHY **** wanted to talk to my girlfriend and not me. I told **** that both of his techs had told me that washing the resin bed does not work. **** began to argue with me and I told him that I am done arguing with him. When I agreed to pay **** $200.00 for labor he told me he and another tech were going to replace the resin bed, NOT WASH IT. **** then blamed Corporate Kinetico for not approving the rebed, despite that exact thing being under warranty and being approved in front of me as his employee used my telephone to call his supervisor and get the approval. I asked **** if he planned on charging me an additional $200.00 fee to wash my resin bed. He calmly replied, "Yes." I told **** not to come to my home. He hung up.**** had no problem throwing his own employee under the bus when he realized this situation was not what HE decided it should be. How does it become a customer's problem if an employee is not trained properly? Either way one cuts the cake, Kinetico's issues should not become a paying customer's issues. THIS IS LUNACY!So you decide. I have nothing to lie about here as I am just some guy in the Foothills trying to get my well water treated properly. I never contacted Kinetico and paid $175.00 because I wanted to do a heart stress test without monitoring equipment attached.Kinetico is not a forthcoming and truthful business, despite their Worldwide presence. That is one thing. **** is not an honest or caring businessman, as this clearly demonstrates. So, my advice, take it or leave it, is look elsewhere for your water treatment needs.As I wrote.......YOU DECIDE!Kinetico is not welcome here and will never darken my doorway again.
