We adopted a rescue dog through the local pound and were referred to Ridge Animal Hospital because they dealt with the SPCA as far as neutering services. I contacted the local SPCA and confirmed they have an account with Ridge. I contacted Ridge and said I would like to use the SCPA's free neutering service and schedule an appointment. I also got quotes on other services. During this entire conversation, the neutering was proposed as free to me as the SPCA would be covering it. So I scheduled it for the 22nd of February. The day before, the vets office called to confirm. I verified again "we are only coming in for the free neutering from the SPCA, correct?". This was confirmed. When I dropped the dog off the only documents I signed were a medical liability for the procedure and an agreement the dog would not spend the night. At no time during this was price discussed whatsoever. They called when the procedure was completed, and again no price discussed. My wife goes to pick up the dog and was told the bill was $**** She said the SPCA was supposed to cover this. The vets office said they had no record of that. They called the SPCA. They were supposed to call BEFORE we arrived to make sure the SCPA had funds to cover this. The SPCA said they could only cover $*** of it at this time. The vets office forced my wife to pay the remainder or they would not release the dog. They pressured her into this. By the time I got off work and got there, they said there was nothing they could do. At no time were we told we would be responsible for any charges whatsoever. When I spoke with the office manager she said "we assume our customers know they will have to pay for something because nothing is free" I explained that would have been fine if we were told that up front. But no one did, and no one called the SPCA beforehand(she admitted they failed to do so, and we were not responsible for their mistake). My lawyer suggested I try getting a refund via the BBB before legal action.

On October 20th I took in a 2 year old chihauhau that was not eating, throwing up, and yelping. I told the vet that the dog has a bad habit of chewing socks and i felt something was lodged in him. The vet stated she didnt think it was anything lodged that it was muscle spasms in his neck and pain so she gave him a shot of either pain or muscle relaxer and sent him home with pills to take for pain and muscle relaxing. Dog was no better the next day. Took the dog back. This time we saw Dr. F*****. Moose is very anxious around people. He has to be muzzled because of his anxiety with people and the abuse he had before we adopted from ****. Dr F***** immediately had an attitude that he couldnt diagnose him because of his behavior. He had an attitude about my dog. He ended up giving my dog 3 shots (pain reliever, antibotic and muscle relaxer) and sent him home. AGAIN I stated that I felt it was something lodged in his throat. He stated the dog was not lodged because he was pooping. Called the vet back on October 27th in the morning to try to bring him back. Received a call at 9:30PM with a not so pleasant attitude to being him back. He left this message on voicemail which I do still have saved. Not compassionate at all. Sounded very aggitated. I didnt feel comfortable after the voice mail to take him back there. Today, October 28th he was no better at all. No food at all since October 19th. Only drink water or milk if I put it in my hand. Would not eat solids at all. I took him to another vet. The muzzled my dog and gave him a little sedation and did xray as I wanted. They found the dog had digested a sock. The sock was in his stomach and had started down his small intestines. They vet had to remove sock and take part of small intestines from my dog. I called Ridge Vet back and spoke with office manager about this as I was upset that my dog was misdiagnosed not once but twice and I was charged ****** for nothing practically. They had no remorse whatsoever! I feel if they would have listened as i stated about him eating socks and i felt something was lodged in his throat, the surgery would not have been to this extent. I am very disappointed with the service. I feel this vet should at least give part of my money back. The service I received could have been just as good if I passed my money to a trash can.
