June 11, 2022 drove to Glenwood Village Tire Pros seeking help with a tire that was losing air. Spoke with ***, He was very polite and he found a small piece of metal in my tire that was causing the tire to deflate. With the tire remaining on the car, he started to repair the tire. He advised that he couldn't plug the tire due to the metal entering the tire at a 45 degree angle. He advised that he would need to be repaired from the inside and the "tire guy" would be in on Monday. He took the tire off and put the spare time on my car. *** called me on Monday advising me that the tire was ready. I went to the shop and *** and other employees were in the office. An employee, not *** advised by tire could not be repaired because the metal went in at a 45 degree angle. Another employee said that they were not even to touch a tire where the object goes in at a 45 degree angle. They advised I would need to purchase a new tire. The metal went into the tread, not the sidewall. There shouldn't have been any reason why this 2 month old tire bought at the shop could not be repaired. Another employee advised he would sell me a new tire for $250. They had sold me the tire 2 months before for $226. They took no responsibility for not being able to repair this tire. I didn't let buy the tire from them. I bought a tire from Tire Rack for $226 and had it installed by ********* for $23. ********* Rep. advised that they never plug a tire because it is unsafe and doesn't last. They always take the tire off and repair from the inside. They have never heard of the 45 degree rule. I believe that *** didn't have the experience to know how to plug the tire or make the decision that it should have been repaired from the inside. Trying to plug the tire caused irreparable damage to the tire I'm asking that the take responsibility for their negligence and pay for the tire that I had to replace - $226. which is cheaper than what they were asking me to pay.
