Concept 8 is one of the worst builders I have ever interacted with. My father-in law builds houses and I have multiple family members in construction. First off, they build very very cheap houses and townhomes. Second, they do not keep their word on their warranties. They do not honor their word and come back and try to fix things. We bought a brand new townhome from them and within a year we had to replace parts for the AC, the shower was never caulked, had a leak in plumbing, had to replace certain parts of the flooring, the list goes on and on. For a first time home buyer we are extremely disappointed and recommend everyone stay away from using Concept 8. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Concept Eight did a great job for us designing a major renovation of our 120 year old home! We were at a loss as to how to transform this old home to meet our needs now and for the future. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and we’re satisfied throughout the process.

Smooth sales pitch by company's owner who deftly structures contract to his great favor & promises to be intimately involved to build a home of superior quality, only to cut corners in many important aspects, producing a product of overall poor execution & in great need or remediation and repair, and who refuses to honor his much-touted warranties. We echo a previous writer: "Do not use this builder." Concept8 is dishonest, cost us more than $150k in rework due to their mistakes and, because they didn't pay many of their sub-contractors, left us with a legal mess and more bills. Bad floors, bad framing, bad sheetrock and paint, inaccurate and poor grading, poor landscaping and hardscaping, lack of supervision and many more problems. The other reviewers are correct that they "abandon all responsibility" -- despite months of detailed lists of items needing regress, the builder did almost nothing, tried to place blame on us, his customer, and then went silent, refusing to speak with us, leaving us the time and expense to try to rework their failures, costing over $150,000 (& growing) costs to us. We had to fire this builder, who then sued us. We agree with previous reviewer that "Concept8 does not take ownership of their work & were aggressive & rude to us as well as to their own trades. Many of their trades told us directly that they had not been paid for months after work was completed". We can only advise others to refuse to work with Concept8 -- we wish we had. And the legal mess they've got us into is costing us health and a great amount of time and money. We wish there were a way to truly hold this builder responsible and to get justice for the consumer. Concept8 and its owner deserve to be held responsible for the pain they cause good people who trust them and who give them great amounts of money and time, only to be abused and neglected, eventually left with an inferior home and little recourse.

There is an ongoing legal dispute in this matter and it would be inappropriate to debate on a social setting. Every attempt was made to satisfy this client and this was proven impossible. I look forward to swift resolution.

Great sales people, terrible builder. Dishonest and poor overall quality compared to promises. Do not use this builder -- especially not for a custom home. They cost us more than $150k in rework due to their mistakes. The other reviewer is not exaggerating. Bad floors, bad framing, bad product selections...etc. That they "abandon all responsibility" is absolutely correct -- they do not put customers first, have awful communication, and when things go wrong they either ignore the problems or blame everyone else except themselves. Many builders have issues -- its a hard job! -- but honesty and partnership is crucial in a builder relationship. Concept8 does not take ownership over their work and were aggressive and rude to us as well as to their own trades. Many of their trades told us directly that they had not been paid for months after work was completed and we later found out that trades had strongly advised C8 against their plans for our home. This builder is not a partner. Ignore their cool website, the smooth and responsive sales pitch, and pass this builder up. Refuse to work with them. I wish we had. We would sue them if we had the time and stomach for it. They deserve to be held responsible for the pain

      Concept 8, LLC Response

It's unfortunate to have such a poor review placed after such a long period without communication from Mr. *****. After unsuccessfully attempting to satisfy Mr. *****'s design and budget requirements, he decided to amicably terminate the contract and move forward with another builder. There were completion lists generated that were carefully documented as complete, in order to ensure a clean conclusion to our contract. Concept 8 was not sent any requests to rectify improper work since that time. Unfortunately, Mr. ***** did not even pay the agreed settlement amount. Considering Mr. *****'s experience in the construction industry (and a business owner himself), I'm surprised at this malicious attack on the reputation of a company that made every effort for his satisfaction. I welcome further dialogue to understand this complaint.
