Hello Ms. ******* I have received notice of your posted concerns here, so I will do my best to clarify the details of the claim denial. Please note that Repwest Insurance Company handles the claims for U-Haul, who is a Self-Insured entity. Repwest Insurance Company also handles the claims for any of the optional Safe protection products offered by U-Haul for their customers. I see that your claim involves an independent third-party moving company that you hired to assist with your move. You also elected the optional Safeload coverage to protect against risks of Direct Physical Loss of your items while in the care, custody and control of the third-party moving company, and like any coverage or insurance, there are some Exclusions to the coverage. (An example of a Direct Physical Loss while in the care, custody and control of the movers would be if they were carrying a TV or lamp to the truck and dropped it breaking it.) Our investigation for your claim of damages included receiving a statement from the moving company that they noticed there was some pre-existing damage to your items when they arrived and they made you aware but you said you already knew of the pre-existing damage. They confirmed no incidents of new damage occurred during their moving process. Therefore, it was determined that aside from the pre-existing damages, any new damages were likely caused by improper packing and/or normal shifting in transit. Improper packing and normal shifting in transit are listed Exclusions of the specific Safeload coverage that you elected. You have the right to reach out directly to the third-party moving company that you hired to see if they will consider your damages. Please be advised - the moving company is NOT an agent of U-Haul and does NOT work for U-Haul. If the moving company will not consider your damages, you may want to contact your personal insurance carrier to see if there is applicable coverage under your Homeowners or Renters policy. I hope this information provides some clarification to the coverage claim denial. Sincerely, Complaints Liaison, Repwest Insurance CompanyReview from Max L

Hello Mr. ********************** I received notice of your posted concerns here. Unfortunately, I searched our claim database by your name, zip code and email address that you provided, but I don't see a claim for you under any of those parameters. Is the claim by ****** filed under someone else's name like a spouse or different registered owner of your vehicle? Or a different legal name for you? Also, just incase, please know that notifying U-Haul of your accident is NOT the same as filing your damages claim with Repwest. Repwest Insurance Company handles the claims for U-Haul. If the claim has possibly not yet been filed directly with us, then I encourage you to file online (********************************************************* ) so that it is submitted directly to us for assignment to a handling claim adjuster to assist you. Now, if the claim was filed but is under a different name and you'd like my assistance to route your matter to the appropriate claim adjuster and claim supervisor to assist you, I am happy to help if you can please send me those details via email with your Claim #. You can reach me at ************************************. Sincerely, Complaints Liaison, Repwest Insurance CompanyReview from Delaware A

We rented an Uhaul and Tow Dolly to tow our car to **. The Tow Dolly broke down in the middle of the highway and we were able to pull over off the road and parked in a parking lot in the middle of no where at mid night. We flied the claim as our car that was on the tow dolly for ripped off. We got a claim number and the adjuster asked us to upload documents. We did it. We moved to a new city and now we do not have a car as the car is in the shop.We have trying to call the adjuster so many times but luck. Now, we do not have any other options other than reaching out an accident attorney. The most awful insurance company we have ever dealt with in our life.Repwest Insurance Company Response

Hello Mr. Arif, I have received your posted concerns here and I was able to locate the related claim file with the email address that you provided, thank you. I see that this Claim was recently reported to us 5 days ago on 8/14/24, advising an 8/12/24 loss date. I see in the claim file that you were able to successfully connect with the assigned claim adjuster to provide your statement regarding the incident so that they can conduct a thorough investigation. I see that the adjuster also sent you a letter advising the claim support documents necessary to evaluate the claim; IE, color photographs of all of the damaged items clearly showing the damages, our cargo worksheet completed that details the original purchase dates and purchase prices so that we can adequately determine Actual Cash Value (ACV) of damages. It is also noted in the letter to Not throw away any items before the claim is settled as it may be determined necessary to have an independent adjuster inspect the damages to be considered. We appreciate your assist to provide us with the necessary supports for this loss. Please allow adequate time for the investigation and continue to work directly with the handling claim adjuster towards resolution efforts. Thank you sincerely, Repwest Complaints LiaisonReview from Daniel B

The absolute worst....slime to the max....do not do business with them. The following are the terms of the agreement. They only offer protection, with $100 deductible and exclusions. If you look at the exclusions below, they are able to wiggle out up just about any claim. You will just be throwing away your money if you buy their worthless insurance.U-Haul's Safeload coverage protects personal property (cargo) during loading and unloading, as well as when it's being moved and handled improperly. Safeload coverage also has a $100 deductible and is subject to the following exclusions. Safeload coverage doesn't cover:Improper packing Items shifting during a move while driving Floods, surface water, tides, tidal waves, or overflow of any body of water Water that backs up from a sewer or drain Water under the ground surface pressing on or flowing, seeping or leaking through foundations, walls, basements, floors or paved surfaces or through doors, windows or other such openings Mudslides or mudflowsReview from Genie S

Hello *****, I have received your posted concerns here and I was able to locate your claim file with the email address you provided. I have reached out to the claim supervisor for you to discuss the concerns. The supervisor advised that they received from you Photos which show water droplets on a leather couch and appears to be wipeable. They do not yet received from you any other Photos of the other items claimed and have not yet received a completed Cargo Form that was emailed to you, as we need that also in order to determine the value of your claim. Please reply to your claim adjuster's email with the requested additional item photos and completed Cargo Form. Terrible customer **********************. Since learning yesterday that there is an e-alert with my name on it, I've called 5 times and sent 1 text to determine how U-Haul got my name when I haven't rented anything from them. Based on the reviews here, I'm not very optimistic that someone will call with answers to resolve this situation. I'm sure, however, that insurance regulation still exists.Review from Anthony Y

It's been a month and I've been getting the run around for a hit and run of one of their insured drivers. Everytime I talk to them on the phone. They review the pictures and say "I'm going to get back to you", no sir I've lost my job waiting for you. You cost me my livelihood. I'm going after them. They've destroyed my life. My car was parked and I have video proof of everything and they are still giving me trouble. I rely on my car for work.Repwest Insurance Company Response

Hello **************, I received notice of your posted concerns here and I will do my best to assist you. I was able to locate your claim file with the name and email address that you have provided. I see there was an initial delay as this loss involved a ********* and therefore there was some deeper investigation needed and delay retrieving a valid U-Haul rental contract for determining liability of the occured date of loss that the renter caused damages to your vehicle. I see that a rental contract was finally confirmed for the date of loss and a video was reviewed to confirm the loss occurred as reported. I see an evaluation was conducted on the vehicle damages by a third-party and that as of this morning 8/1/24, your handling claim adjuster reached out to you by phone to discuss the Total Loss settlement amount options of Salvage vs Owner Retained, and that you confirmed you received the settlement report and will follow-up with the adjuster regarding your decision. Glad to see that this is resolving soon and we apologize for the delay. Thank you for allowing us to assist you. Sincerely, Complaints Liaison - Repwest Insurance CompanyReview from Sylvia S

I am filing this complaint due to the unsatisfactory handling of my insurance claim by Repwest Insurance. After a move on March 16, 2024, facilitated by U-Haul, I suffered significant losses due to damages to my belongings. Despite submitting a detailed claim and a subsequent appeal outlining the unjust denial based on unfounded reasons such as alleged improper packing, Repwest has failed to engage in meaningful dialogue or reconsideration. The initial compensation does not reflect the extent of the damages, and the insurers failure to respond to my appeal underscores a lack of commitment to customer ********************** and accountability. I am seeking the BBBs help in resolving this matter, as Repwests actions represent a concerning lack of business integrity and fairness.Repwest Insurance Company Response

A driver in a U-Haul hit our parked car and the police report declared the driver as at fault. U-Haul used this terrible insurance company, RepWest, that tried to get us to accept a low ball settlement of 1/4 of the cost to repair our vehicle. When we refused, they gradually increased their offer over the next half year to 3/4 the cost. We used our own insurance, which then had to go after RepWest for the damages (subrogation). A year later RepWest again tried unsuccessfully to deny the claim insisting we resubmit photos of the damage. I recommend you use a different, honest insurance company with better insurance, that does not try to evade its financial obligations.
