I applied a few years ago to become a Correctional Officer however I did not make it very far in the process. I decided to reapply in July 2020 while I was on maternity leave. I have no background or education in Law Enforcement but I was determined to achieve this life long goal. I came across Police Tutor very early on during the process when I was looking for sample questions that may be asked on the written tests. Please keep in mind I have been out of school for almost fifteen years at this point. I purchased the written test section and I used it daily to prepare. At first I had the most difficulty with the Wonderlic questions but with Police Tutor I was able to learn the tips and tricks needed to be successful. I used Police Tutor in preparation for the Interview. Over a period of a few phone calls the coach would help me make the connections from my life experience, and previous work experience to Corrections. By the end of my sessions I knew exactly what types of questions may be asked, I had practiced numerous answers and I knew exactly what I needed to say to stand out. I went into the Interview with confidence and professionalism. One day later I had an email that stated I had successfully completed the Interview and would be moving on to the next stage. On Friday, May 21, 2021 less than a year from when I first applied I received my conditional offer. I am currently in the COTA program and I look forward to starting at my Institution in September 2021. The candidate pool had closed the applications with 7500 people for 120 positions. I knew with that many applicants I needed to bring my best self in every aspect of the process. I am 100% confident that Police Tutor played a huge role in helping me achieve my dream!
