L3 Builders has contravened the Basic Principles of the BBB Code of Advertising (http://www.bbb.org/ottawa/for-businesses/become-an-accredited-business/bbb-code-of-advertising/), which states:
"Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used."
"An advertisement as a whole may be misleading although every sentence separately considered is literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements but by omitting or obscuring a material fact."
The company has subsequently changed their website to remove the statement about not using sub-contractors. However, the wording they are using now mentions their "in-house team," which still implies that they do not hire any sub-contractors. The BBB believes that the company has still not addressed the misleading impression.
