I do not know enough about FC** ********, Oregon yet to give it any star of approval. When I first opened the BBB site to look for First Community Credit Union I leveled off with the Credit Union in ********. The complaints for the ** in ******** read like the hubris I have witnessed in an Oregon facility. Maybe this review could be passed along to ************************************ in ******** and then deleted when he joins BBB's members.I wanted to open an account with FC** ******** after I had been graciously provided what I needed to know to pull some cash out of my Seattle **. During my first experience, a woman in another line was getting upset about the **'s management of her account causing her to miss a payment of some kind which could not be readily resolved. I calmed her down as we left the ** together.Several weeks went by and I decided to open an account with FC** ******** in **********. I went with the understanding I only needed a $1 to start an account. For some reason I was rejected with "we need to see something with your address on it."Today on my third trip about three or more weeks after my second, I had a box label from a package I received and a letter I mailed to my self. It was not acceptable. Fortunately today I had spoken to the teller before this, informing her I was comfortable with being asked to leave without question so there would be no expectation for histrionics. This time I was informed I needed a utility **** and a credit card statement. I am off-grid so no ****. And I pay off my credit cards each month on line so no statement. No other forms of documentation were requested. With over a billion dollars in assets, I have question if FC** ******** is no more competent than the format in a document I was handed to fill out on my second visit. I had politely informed the teller the format for it asked for the middle name or initial to fall after the last name and before the first name [Last, Middle Initial, First Name instead of Last, First Name then middle Initial] I was not surly. The document I filled out, I am informed has been since shredded. So on the heart note of any good discussion, to open an account at a friendly bank all I need for proof of ID is a ********************** card and picture ID (Passport, Federal, or State) and $29. What will I be expected to provide FC** ******** in ********** on my fourth trip and third attempt to open an account? Slap me once, Slap me twice. I don't take three slaps and do not get revenge. Injelitence rides well with hubris. They compensate me fair enough. BFE, **********

      First Community Credit Union Response

      12/01/2021

************,We apologize for the inconvenience and the multiple trips necessary to open an account at our branch in **************. The Bank Secrecy Act requires the Credit Union to obtain current identification to open an account. In addition, as a Credit Union, we must ascertain our members live, work or worship in the communities we serve. The requirement for mail addressed to you at an address in our service area is a way for us to meet this requirement. We apologize for the misdirection you received from branch employees on the types of mail necessary to fulfill this requirement. We invite you to visit our branch again or contact the branch manager, *********************, as he is prepared to assist you with the necessary documentation to finalize the account opening process. He can be reached at ******************.

      Customer Response

      12/06/2021

MONDAY 6 DEC 2021: I called the phone number for the person named in the above response. No answer. The extension had no effect even when using it as a separate number in combination with the area code and prefix provided. I have chosen to limit my banking services to one international bank, one credit union and two credit cards which I pay off each month outside of the state of Oregon. I have no complaint. Corporate injelitence has as much effect on a business as the Gorgon head of Medusa. I am thankful for what I learned about the prejudices of financial institutions during this capriccio; the three different companies which provide background checks; and the alternatives to banks available online which includes cryptocurrency exchanges.
