So I am definitely not one to leave bad reviews but this one is necessary. I visited this hotel in July 2021 and have given them many chances via email and phone to discuss our experience there with no such success. Me and my family were appalled by the condition of the property and the lack of staff assistance. 1. They booked us the wrong room. When we checked in they gave us a 3rd floor room. After going back and forth we finally got a first floor room...that apparently should not have been cleared by hospitality because it was not cleaned!!!! (See pics) 2. Room not clean There was a lot of hair in the bathtub ( we ended up using a raft to stand on in the shower because the tub was too gross to stand on barefoot) towels were stained, floor was sandy, cabinets were sticky etc. When we told hospitality about it, the manager confirmed that the room was not cleaned and asked if we could leave so they could clean it. 3. Towels We had 4 people and 2 towels. When I asked for more she said that the laundry was broken and she would try and find more. When they re-cleaned the room she did put more in there. The rest of our stay no one came to clean the room and if we wanted towels we had to find a hospitality cart. 4. NEVER answered the phone Tried calling the front desk SEVERAL times and they never answered the phone. Had to walk over myself to get assistance. 5. Loud Banging Got woke up by maintenance banging loudly against our wall. 6. Bathroom Light Light went out in the bathroom the last day. Didn't call maintenance because we knew they wouldn't come. 7. Smoking/Vaping Is was supposed to be a Smoke/Vape free hotel but people were doing it everywhere. And they promote themselves as a "family friendly" hotel but everywhere we walked outside on property reeked of weed.Chateau By The Sea Response

We do apologize profusely for the inconveniences that occurred during your stay. Your request was for a room that would accommodate a guest in a wheelchair. Our ground floor rooms are on the third floor and our beach access rooms are on the first. The use of a ramp or stairs would be required to access those rooms. There may have been miscommunication between what was needed and what was booked. I was pleased to see that the housekeeping manager was able to have your room cleaned immediately after discovering that it did not meet our standards of cleanliness. Unfortunately, the towel situation was a problem for us. With our laundry being down, we had to wait extended times to receive our linen. During check-in, you signed a statement explaining that due to COVID-19, our staff will not enter rooms for housekeeping. This statement further says that the housekeepers will take your trash, linen, and will bring any items that you request. I apologize but I couldn't verify if maintenance was banging on your wall. Lastly, while we are a non-smoking property, we do not have enough staff to monitor if guests are smoking. However, our staff is not trained to identify the smell of weed but will speak to any guest caught smoking. The reason I specifically reserved a room on the first floor was so my mother could walk out of the room onto the beach without using steps. I was aware that she would have to manage down steps to get to the room when I booked. And I was assured by your company that I would receive a first floor room. When I arrived it was a different story. That is the issue. Then when we got to the room it was not cleaned or cleared to be occupied by housekeeping. I was also aware by reading your policy that the room would not be entered once we were there to be cleaned. That would not of been a problem if the room would not have been in such horrible disgusting unsanitary shape when we arrived. The first person that showed up to "clean" our room after our complaint was a person with a wash rag which he wetted in the sink to wipe out the hair. And that was all that was done by him. Mind you no disinfected or cleanser was brought with him to do so. And he thought that was sufficient. Absolutely not. The main issue was the overall condition of the room.... Especially the mold! And the issue with the laundry.... If it's not working like we were told.... How were the sheets and towels and linens cleaned properly that were already in there?! To not have at least one towel per person and the inability to proved clean towels and linens are unacceptable. And with the "non smoking" property you portray on your website.... I understand workers can't be everywhere to monitor this constantly.... But smoking was going on everywhere. in the pool area and in the tiki area there were workers there that easily could've said something or tried to enforce this rule. I again apologize for not meeting your standards and expectations. We are working hard to improve the hotel and total guest experience. Currently, the property is closed for a complete repair/renovation/remodel. It will have an entirely new staff when reopened with the appropriate amount of linen, towels, etc. Please contact me so we can discuss any future stays. This place is horrible! To start, I called a few days before we left to confirm our reservation. I tried several times to call the hotel directly but the "voicemail box was full." I then got online and called another number that I found and I knew right then that it was going to be awful. The woman that I spoke to on the phone was so rude to me. She talked to me like I was so stupid. I knew it was too late to cancel so, I just went with it and hoped for the best. PLEASE don't do what I did. Check in is at 4pm. We arrived at 7pm and we were told that our room was ready but we couldn't have the key. There were several people that had been waiting all day for their keys. Apparently, the maintenance department has to re-key all the rooms and this takes all day to do. They did let everyone hang out by the pool while they waited. When we finally got into our room, the smell of sewage hit us in the face. It was bad...so bad. The carpet had big wet spots all over the place and it turned our feet black. We couldn't walk in our room without shoes on. We had no towels at all. We had to go buy our own towels and washcloths. Not even a bathmat to step on when we got out of the shower. There are no lights outside. It's DARK. We heard people screaming and arguing non stop. There aren't any elevators so you're going up and down the stairs. With no lights, hoses running everywhere and air conditioners leaking everywhere (that's a different story) it makes for a VERY dangerous situation. We had our AC set on 60 degrees. At home, I do 74. I still had to sleep with no blankets on because it was so hot in there. There was water(?) pouring out of our AC unit onto the balcony. Looking around, the same thing was happening to everyone else's too. I know that's a pretty common thing for AC unit's to do that, but I have never in my life seen anything like this. We only had one working light in the room. Which was one of the two lamps in between the beds. The outlets were so overloaded that we were afraid to plug anything into them. We charged our phones in the car during the day while we were out and about and tried to stay off of them at night so we would have battery. I completely gave up on the "free wi-fi." I'm not sure when the pictures of this facility were taken but place looks nothing like the pictures. My family and I actually cringed every time that we pulled into the parking lot. There were no other vacancies, they refused to give us a refund, and we were 15 hours from home. They had our hands tied. I could keep going on about this place but I'm pretty sure you get the point. They are going to reel you in with this hotel being right on the beach and then you are literally stuck there when you see how bad it is.Review from Margie C

I wouldn't even give this place one star. It's nasty no ice machines pool deck had mold and dirty clothes laying around the hallways had no lights so at night you could barely see to walk fridge wouldn't stay cold had to beg for towels had no maid service at all got told they had to move us cause of a broken pipe when in fact it was bc the place was falling apart told us they would call when they found us another room never got a call when we went to our room they had locked us out then moved us to a room with no ocean view when that's what we paid for refused to give us part of our money back. If you ask any questions all you got told was I don't know.Review from Barbara B

I had no TV for 3 days no wifi at all the building was falling apart the rails were falling off no hot water for 3 days couldn't get tolit paper or trash bags sheets didn't fit bed I paid 1100.00 dollars and will keep posting my review with pictures I'm asking for at least half my money back for false advertising
