After the May 8 tornado damaged my TVF fence, I called them for an estimate to repair it. When the salesman came out, I pointed out the damage and a few other things that were wrong with the fence that I wanted to get fixed. Regarding rot, he stated that that shouldn't occur this quickly and they had possibly used a bad batch of treated lumber. He said ***** (lead salesman) would get back to me with an estimate. I waited a couple of weeks and then reached out to them via text. They responded, "the damage does not meet our minimum." I asked what the minimum was and if they had discussed the rotted wood. They never responded.It is very bad customer service to be unwilling to repair a fence they built, especially to take care of an existing customer who suffered tornado damage. I can only assume they did not want to deal with any problems from their original workmanship, i.e, they don't stand behind their work.I won't use them again.----------------------------------------Background:Had a privacy fence installed in 2020 using "premium" treated lumber. Stained it just as they recommended and it is already rotting in places. Rot started in a few pickets immediately as there were mushrooms growing in the wood when they installed it. Shame on me for not getting them to resolve it.They miscommunicated a lot during the process. Almost installed the wrong type of picket. If I had not been teleworking from home, I would have returned from work to a fence style I did not want.They left some screws out of the gate mounting. Also had to get them to re-do the pickets on the gate to decrease the spacing. They had opted to increase the spacing so that they didn't use any partial pickets. It looked tacky with the amount of gap between.Review from Alan G

I have waited so long to leave this review but my experience was so bad I need to share it. We purchased a vinyl fence from TVF Mar 14, 2018 for $11,000+. In Apr 2018 the fence was installed. It looked great for 30 days, before it sagged. We contacted TVF and they sent a crew out who stated we had the wrong bottom rails. A crew came out and installed new bottom rails. This worked for about 60 days before it sagged again. We contacted TVF over and over and over again through *************************************************************************** Dec 2018 they determined that they would add aluminum U channel support inserts to the bottom rails. This did not happen until a few months into 2019. Which is almost a full year from the time we ordered the fence. They pretend to this day that this is not required and it is an extra step that they did just for us. I contacted various other fence companies and the manufacturer of this fence in ******* (the distributor for TVF is in Georgia) and they stated that 8 foot runs come with aluminum support rails automatically. Here is the quote from their web page: Panels ordered in eight-foot width will come reinforced with aluminum in the bottom rail. We still have two sections without support rails. We were so extremely exhausted with the battle that we didnt let them know until Dec 2019. Which was within 1 year of our fence being correctly installed. The owner did not reply to our email. We contacted them recently Apr 2022 to bring to their attention that they never replied to our Dec 2019 email and to request that the two aluminum U channels that were missed be added. They want us to pay labor for a part that should have come with our 8 foot runs automatically that they failed to install. I apologize, I just cannot give TVF any more money after all we went through. Likewise, I cannot and will not ever recommend TVF to anyone. On top of that, we never received an apology or anything for all the trouble we went through.Review from Bryan R

DO NOT USE THIS FENCE COMPANY. I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I paid them a non-refundable $655 down payment for a aluminum gate to be installed in 4-6 weeks. 6 months later, I still have no gate and they kept my money. I asked the owner if he would meet half way and refund half of the down payment because his company miss-lead me on the time to install. 4-6 weeks vs. 6 months. The owner told me he would get more info from his welder and call me back. The owner has not returned or taken any of my calls. This company is not trustworthy.Review from Richard P

There was some confusion about when things would start but once they were underway they finished in a couple of days. The fence looks great. I couldn't be happier. Josh the installed made a couple of trips after to correct a gate issue. Both installers were professional and did good work. We had 600+ feet off vinyl coated black chain link added to our yard. They tied it into the front privacy fence. Looks great.Tennessee Valley Fence, Inc. Response

TVF;
I paid TVF to move my drive way gate 13 feet. This included moving two 6x6 post and to add the fence siding required by the open fence side.
I stated what I desired to the manager and he asked the workers if they understood. They replied yes. I left them to work. I returned about 90 minutes later and noticed that they failed to understand my directions. The post they moved were placed in the wrong position.
One of the workers began to argue with me. They called the same manager, and the group was told something and they continued to work to correctly place the post.
The job was completed, I paid them and they left. Later the next day I notice the fence was crooked. They returned and placed the fence straight to view from the street. Little did I know that the out side post was still crooked, but I couldn't ascertain this because the fence boards covered this.
Three weeks later I had the driveway extended in front of the moved gate. I discovered the gate would not move across the extension. I hired a carpenter to investigate and to widen the gate. As he removed boards we discovered the fence was indeed replaced crooked. He also showed me that the left side of the fence was not supported at the house. I paid TVF $2,324 after they were finished. I paid $400 to correct the TVF fence errors. I took photos of TVF poor fence work hidden by the crooked fence boards they put in. I would like to show those photos if possible.Tennessee Valley Fence, Inc. Response

I can find no record of Mr. ****** having called the office after we finished. Our warranty on our work is (1) One Year and I would have been happy to have addressed his displeaseure had I known there was an issue. Extending his driveway and the associated work could have been part of the problem. My email address is [email protected] and I will be happy to address any issues and photographs once received. With regard to the fence as it approaches the house I would have to see the pictures and understand how the post was set and if we were told not to run a 2x4 on the house to nail off to. Foundation overpours are common not allowing us to set it right next to the house resulting in the need for the 2x4. I hope to hear from Mr. ****** and am reaching out to him via both e-mail and the file phone number.Tennessee Valley Fence, Inc. Response

Just hung up with Mr. ******** It appears that this review is about what the carpenter charged him to redo the fence, the way he needed it to accomodate his driveway extension. He promised to send me the pictures he alluded to. We have pictures of the fence when we finished, and would expect they should match the ones he will send. I am always concerned when I receive reviews of customers that are unhappy and will try and right a wrong if we reach his conclusion.Customer Response

TVF sent out a Mr. Stubs or Mr. Tubbs to repair the first crew crooked post. When I came out to view the job the fence looked ok. What I discovered was the fence boards covered the crooked post. When my carpenter removed the boards I could see the crooked post was never corrected. I sent TVF The photos since BBB wrote them. I do not have all year to deal with TVF sending someone out every two weeks to correct crooked post. My carpenter told me that to correct TVF job I would have to remove the entire line of fence TVF put in place.
I gave TVF a deposit in June 2021 to move my gate and post and to install new post and fence boards. They didn't start the job until October 2021. I contacted TVF about their poor job the next day after they finished. They sent Mr Tubbs out to correct the crooked fence and the post were still crooked. I have the photos.
I hired a carpenter to show me what the issue was. When the carpenter removed the fence boards I saw the issue. The issue is TVF does not know how to install fence post and align them correctly.
I sent them photos of their poor work. TVF is full of excuses. I didn't put the fence up, I hired TVF to do that. So they can't blame anyone but themselves and their workers. Thanks!Tennessee Valley Fence, Inc. Response

Once we moved his fence and installed his gate he then had concrete poured to extend the driveway. In doing so he changed the lay of the land raising the final grade, which would have simply required cutting the bottom of the gate boards to adjust for the new height.Review from Grace M

Absolutely in love with my fence and handrail! I wanted something that would make my yard more private and got a vinyl fence put in. My installer, V***** was extremely polite and left no mess. My hand rail is a steel handrail and I wanted it white and it's great. Z*** was a perfectionist and it took him a minute to get it right, but he got it done and it looks amazing. I called the office for updates and they were able to give me informative updates on where I was standing on the schedule. Thank you Tennessee Valley for a job well done.Tennessee Valley Fence, Inc.
