I bought a Mazda CX-9 in 2013 from Hodges Mazda and I've been very pleased with the vehicle. I've been using the dealer primarily for oil changes, as I've had a regular mechanic who has served me well for 25 yrs. My passenger door would not open after a friend changed out window motor. I took it to the dealer for an oil change & have them fix the door after a quote. I was quoted $831.33 to repair a bent cable which could be done with replacing the actuator. If they did the work the $159.98 labor to diagnosis the problem would be applied. They couldn't do it that day as they had to order the parts. I said it seemed high, so I needed to think about it. I got a 2nd quote, and they fixed it in 45 minutes and charged me $126. They said when the new window motor was installed the cables were reversed. They corrected the cable placements and said no other parts were needed, and the parts they ordered would return. I was planning on possibly buying another CX-9 after this one, but I will not step foot in this dealer again. In my opinion it's a repeat of the 15K checkup. If memory is right, they wanted about $275 to make sure everything was okay after purchase. I said its a new car under warranty, so I expect it is fine. When I took it to my regular mechanic for an oil change, he said when he changes the oil, he performs the same bumper to bumper checks and doesn't charge for them. I'm very loyal to those I purchase from but not in this case. I find Hodges Mazda unethical and dishonest. I drive 50 minutes to get my vehicle serviced. I would have had to wait for them to order parts and make a return trip. They would have not only taken my money, but my time which I resent, when they could have made the repair at the time of the oil change. Total cost of my visit for an oil change and quote to repair the door was $313.64 which is the most expensive oil change I've ever received.Hodges Mazda Response

Unfortunately, I have to put service on the same level with sales- very bad!!!!. And its horrible practice lately .Not just the fact that the people in service are changing all the time , but the prices are changing and are higher then mostly anywhere else.Not counting that such a big organization Is ACCEPTING CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS but CHARGING YOU 3.5% on the top of the bill. ( This is a new practice) YOU HAVE TO PAY CASH , if you dont want to (basically)! be overcharged ,.Its unbelievable.Soon they will introduce a mandatory tip- this is the direction this dealership is going.I am sure I will find a better Mazda service , with better practices.Anywhere else will be faster and better.They are opening a store in ************.STAY AWAY!!!!!I cancelled my appointment with them , now and forever.Dont go there if you want good and customer oriented service.Hodges Mazda Response

I appologize you feel that way ********************, however, we research weekly the market on servicing vehicles to make sure we are right in line with what the industry charges for services, as for the charge for using the credit card, you do not have to pay cash, you can use a debit card or write a check. I talked to the service writer that helped you and they assured me they told you this. Merchant fees on credit cards are increasing all the time and we made a decision to incourage customers not to use a credit card but to use any other means to pay for their service.Review from Robert D

They sold me a lemon and refuse to make it right. I have had to replace the water pump, MAF sensor, Camshaft sensor and it still doesn't run correctly. This has all been in a matter of months. It has spent more time sitting than running. ***************************** does not return my calls or emails. They are a shyster outfit. If I were you I would avoid doing business with them.Review from Deborah T

I purchased a car from ********************* they are partnership with Hodges Mazda in ************ off ********. I had a warranty and took my car for ** repairs three times. The last time they kept my car a week and now the ** is not working properly when it's on my car overheats. I took pictures of my car which returned with a replaced part that apparently was broken. I was told to take the car to Hodges because that is the place *********** takes their cars. I had to follow up with the manager and the customer service is awful and my car is still not fixed and my warranty has expired. This would be my fourth time returning my car and I have tried to contact other leaders for help and failed return, therefore I am stuck with a lemon that I purchased with ** problems and promised it was fixed and now a complete run around.Review from LeeF

I would give them a zero if possible. Sorry I didn't review the dealership (Hodges ***** ******, **) with the same diligence I reviewed the vehicle. Was so happy with the experience--at first. And since we already had a **** diesel, we were happy to find a "good dealership" for future service. Wrong! Purchased the used truck on 8/2/21, so pleased with it. $25,000. Ordered running boards and installed them on 8/7 so I could start using it for work on Monday. Drove great that morning and the transmission went out that afternoon. Won't return phone calls. They had to know the transmission had issues. Yes we bought 'as is', but this is ridiculous. Was hoping the dealership would at least help diagnose the problem so we would know where to go from here. The salesman won't call back, the general manager won't call back. BE WARNED! These guys are not reliable and do not have any sort of customer service after the sale. General manager of Hodges **** has schedulled an apointment with ****************, for 3pm today and have the vehicle diagnosed, if any work to be done is agreed upon, it will be done at a reduced rate.Customer Response

I am relieved and pleased to update this review since the General Manager called me Thursday morning. He agreed to run diagnostics and, depending on what is wrong, to repair at cost which is reasonable. When we dropped the truck off yesterday (Thursday), the shop manager indicated he knew what the problem is (he had just repaired a truck like ours with the same problem which we saw leaving as we arrived). The issue now is when can he get the necessary parts. I am revising my original rating from a 1 to a 3 with hopes of raising it further after resolution. I appreciate that the ** reached back out to us.Hodges Mazda Response

Final disposition on this situation which began in late July 2021. Unfortunately, the transmission had to be replaced. The truck was finally ready September 16, 2021, and the dealership did split the cost for the new transmission including the labor. We appreciate their willingness to resolve this to the customer's satisfaction. Aside from some communication issues, the service department (******** and ***) was professional, efficient, and courteous. I hope to use the service department in the future for both our trucks. And I would like to raise this rating to a 4. My experience with this dealership is totally disheartening. I was planning on purchasing a vehicle from them, I put a deposit on it to show I was serious. Never told non-refundable, so my situation changes the day before I was going to sign paperwork and bring the trade over. I needed to keep my vehicle and contacted them to cancel it. The keep on me about how they were losing money cause they could have sold it earlier. I apologized because this is not something I do. I explained myself honestly and really could use that deposit back for bills. Then (New car manager **** *****) interrogates me like a criminal then claims that I sold it to a rival dealership days before. No proof statement. I was floored, how could a place of business within the community conduct themselves like this and take a common person's money like that!!! I'm not rich and would have appreciated some sympathy but their no care attitude is disgusting.*** BUYER BEWARE FROM THIS PLACE***From what I've read of past complaints, they are proof that bad business exist!"Hodges Mazda Response
