On February 19, 2021, I brought my 2013 Mercedes GL450 in because I noticed coolant leaking. The diagnosis was that I needed to have the radiator assembly, expansion tank and cap replaced. The repair was completed on February 22, 2021 for a cost of $2,573.85. On December 2, 2021, I noticed that all of the radiator had fluid leaked. I called the shop at 5:01 p.m. I explained the situation to Ruel; he looked up my account, acknowledged my warranty and told me that he would arrange to have the vehicle towed to the shop (I was not told that I would have to eventually pay a tow fee). My vehicle was towed on December 6, 2021. Ruel contacted me on December 9, 2021 to explain the diagnosis was bad coolant pipes and he said the cost of repair was going to be $1,600. I was very upset with the fact that this repair was not covered under warranty. I believed that I did my due diligence by bringing the issues I had been having (since the initial repair) to the attention of German Auto to be remedied. I explained that if a “pressure test” had indeed been done before, it should have revealed faulty pipes at that time. Reul explained there was no way this issue could have existed at the time of the radiator repair or been anticipated even though I repeatedly brought it back with the same complaint. At no point did I receive communication from GA. When I called the shop on the 29th, Ruel explained the reason it took so long for the vehicle to be repaired was due to “allowing the tech to do his thing” and that the tech had in fact “took the son of a bitch (my vehicle) home to test it out” earlier that day. When I arrived to pay for the repair, Ruel gave me the total of $1,748.29. However, I had a 10% off loyalty coupon that I wanted to have applied to my bill. I was denied using it. To date, I have paid a total of $4,322 in repairs in less than a year's time with a valid warranty. Every repair has 1 year or 12,000 mile warranty at German Auto.
