The following automobile repair services for our 1967 Mercedes 250S by Hans Wittler’s Automotive (HWA) were unsatisfactory. • HWA performed a pre-purchase inspection on 04/08/2022 and replaced the master brake cylinder and the right rear brake caliper. They did not inform us that the front calipers were seizing, which is a safety hazard. • The carburetor was rebuilt by HWA on 04/08/2022. I have evidence that the carburetor rebuild was incomplete. The choke pate of the second stage was stuck open when the engine was cold. Consequently, the engine was very difficult to start when the engine was cold and the cold idle speed was extremely low, causing the engine to stall. HWA stated that the motor needed to be rebuilt or replaced (see below). Moreover, the choke rod for the second stage had the same limited range of motion that I witnessed before the carburetor was rebuilt. This is evidence that the carburetor may not have been reassembled correctly or perhaps not even disassembled for rebuilding. • On 08/10/2022 the throttle linkage disconnected while I was driving, and I lost accelerator control which was a safety hazard. • A minor tune-up was performed by HWA on 04/08/2022. They stated that the cold compression of the engine was around 50 psi and the hot compression was about 100 psi. They stated that the motor needed to be rebuilt or replaced, which caused considerable concern and disagreement with HWA. We subsequently had the car serviced at *** ********** and they determined that both the cold and hot compression were good – they measured 125 to 135 psi on all cylinders. • A minor tune-up was performed by HWA on 04/08/2022. They serviced the distributor but failed to perform the work properly. We subsequently had the car serviced at *** ********** and they determined that the distributor vacuum advance was loose, and the timing was misadjusted. Request refund for rebuild carburetors, and partial refund for minor tune-up and prepurchase inspection: $2501

After spending $6K on repairs to my ******** E320 diesel in 2003 including a new turbo, DPF cleaning, fanbelt, fan fuel filter, cleaning catalytic converter, replacing the transmission valve body, and others, I was told the car should be good to go and the work gauranteed for 3 yrs ad 36k miles. ***** the fan belt broke due to a freezing up of the gear while they were test driving the turbo so they slapped on a new belt and sent me on my way. Then the new one broke on me a week later and we shared the cost of repairing that -- even though it should have been covered by the warrantee. I was being kind as I understood mistakes happen. Then I brought the car back to ****************** (HW) after the under plate fell off and was dragging on the ground scraping it. They sent it back to me with all the prior recommendations of a few things - some oil leaks (minor) and other conveniences and said there was nothing new to be concerned with. We got the car home and put it on ramps to see their work since a picture they included looked weird. Our discoveries: ****************** did not bother to put all the fasteners back on the cover plate and many were missing (again?!) AND when they looked at the car for an inspection they didn't remove the old piece of fan belt they left wrapped up in the engine area. (Danger!) AND they failed to tell me the new fuel filter they put on was leaking (Danger!) AND they never connected the Air filter that was sucking in dirty air into the brand new turbo I bought AND they left the ducting to the air filter broken and not connected. And the fuel filter is missing a bolt (Yikes!) AND there was about a 1/4 cup of fuel on the cover plate (Danger!). All that after they inspected it for leaks today. They didn't even cover up their last screwups! I will never return - they did not act with any care and when it comes to covering their warrantee I darn near feel like they were sabotaging my car and compromising my safety. crooks!
