I cancelled my digital copy a month ago for the year beginning in May. They acknowledged but want to discuss. The paper is completely without merit. I subscribe to NYT and Washington Post for much less money for both in digital editions.Review from Linda M

I wanted to share this information with you regarding the Omaha World Herald. I have subscribed to OWH for the past 45 years and have begrudgingly paid the ever increasing rates until now. On 1/11/24 I received my bill for the next 6 months. It was basically the same that I paid the last 6 months and as I cringed writing my check then I said this is it! I wanted to at least receive the paper through the holidays and ads. I have attached my bill of $752.49 for 6 months for your viewing. After conferring with my sister-in-law(C. B.) who pays $109 for 6 months, my brother-in-law(K. M.) who lives in Clarinda, IA $220 for 6 months, and my next door neighbor (N. J.) who pays $189 for 6 months, I decided to call the OWH to see what is going on here. After put on hold twice and one disconnection, I was connected with a call center. The response was first, that these individuals had not received their new statements yet, of which I replied that my next door neighbor had received her's the same day as mine so I wasn't accepting that answer. The second reply was a suggestion that I had the option to read the paper online for a reduced rate of which i responded that I can read AP articles without a subscription. Her last response was that they could offer me a reduced rate of $611.00 for six months. As my neighbor so eloquently put it, "This is insane!" I am a retired widow on a fixed income who has subscribed to our ONLY local newspaper for 45 years. The paper has gotten thinner with no grocery ads in Wednesday's paper, no delivery on ANY holidays now, and the majority of news coming from syndication. I'm not asking for a "special or reduced rate" but an equitable one. I hope you can find some clarity to this 3x more in billing than others. My brother-in-law B. M. said he pays $659.88 for a year subscription to the Wall Street Journal and that I am being robbed. No more. Thank you for your time.Review from Roberta M

I would give zero stars if I could. I've been trying since July to cancel my digital subscription and it's now December. Customer service is terrible. I tried to find an option to cancel online since I was able to easily subscribe online but there isn't an option to cancel online. I was lied to about rates, never received a renewal notification before I was charged a ridiculously high amount for a renewal. It was very frustrating and time-consuming dealing with a foreign call center trying to process a cancellation that wasn't completed even after following their terms and submitting the request in writing the specified email address. Listening to same phony script each time I call does not make me feel like a valued customer. I thought I finally got customer service to process the cancellation but a few days later I received an email saying thank you for being a subscriber and your new monthly payment will be three times the previous rate. Back to the phone for another call to again ask for my unwanted subscription to be cancelled. This time I asked for email confirmation of the cancellation. I would NOT recommend subscribing to the Omaha World Herald unless all you want to read about is sports.Review from Claudia W

How awful of what the owh did to customers on Thanksgiving day paper. People running all over to different stores/stations for papers. We know this was for the Black Friday ads as has been in the paper for decades. The paper this year had 4 ads and one for H&H I got 5 flyers. The only ad was Bass pro shop. The other 2 Aldi and nfm were lame one leaflets. The paper was not even an inch thick. It was so disappointing. They charged $5 for this worthless paper. My husband went to 5 stations to get 4 papers for my family and it was such price gouging I think the owh should be boycotted!!! Good going owh show your class to all our families visiting from out of state too.. after all our hype about your paper you showed them how worthless you are.Review from Naomi K

Terrible customer service. I have been trying to cancel my subscription, but it is nearly impossible. You need to call them to cancel the subscription even though you can place the subscription without calling. I live outside of the US, so calling is very difficult for me. -100/10 would recommend subscribing.Review from Daniel P

I was charged a ridiculous amount for an automatic renewal of my digital subscription. It took an hour, 6 phone calls, and 4 so-called customer care representatives finally to get them to cancel my subscription and authorize a refund. I was lied to at least twice, had calls dropped, and had to deal with at least one representative with an extremely poor attitude. I’m still out several hundred dollars for 2-3 more weeks. There’s absolutely no one at the Omaha office to speak with about matters such as this. I’m a big believer in local newspapers, but if this is how they treat people, they deserve to go out of business. I also had a ridiculous time trying to get their automated routing system to work. This entire side of their business in more or less in collapse.Review from Leslie M

I just wanted to cancel my subscription. I called the number provided and their auto line didn't hear me or take any of the numerical inputs I gave it. After 6 tries it sent me to a ive operator but I was told it would be 20 min before I could talk with someone. So then I looked online and found a "tricky" link where I could unsubscribe online but some other company was going to charge me a $19.95 processing fee. I dont know if OWH knows about it, but I think that is pretty sleazy!! why isnt there an easy way to unsubscribe if you don't want the paper anymore!!! Come On - what ever happened to Customer Service. They couldn't talk me into staying now for any reason!!Review from Alan S

I think the price of the World Herald is way out of line. I called today to complain that I was being charged $99.66 per month for the 7 day print plus digital edition and he did agree to reduce the price to $82 per month and gave me credit for 20 days of vacation hold that I thought was automatically given but he said no, you have to call request those credits! I think that is a sleazy practice since it is so hard to actually get someone on the phone when you call.
He proceeded to justify the price based on the quality of the newspaper, local coverage, etc. but I just checked the price for the same subscription to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, 7 days print edition plus 7 days of digital edition and they charge $5.38 per week! If you do the math you determine that the same or higher quality paper in the Minneapolis metro area 7 day print edition plus 7 days of digital works to be $280 per year compared to the World Herald at $984 per year even with the concession they made! Even their introductory rate of $49.95 per month is $600! How in the world can they defend that other than knowing they have a monopoly in the Omaha newspaper market!

Wanted to change subscription delivery--cannot do it online and trying to contact them per phone is almost impossible, given the wait times they suggest (30 minute wait time or more, regardless of when you call them)--their idea of customer service is a joke right now and for the price of the weerkly delivery, you'd think they were top drawer--have ordered the WSJ 5 day delivery for $ 22.00 a month, print copy--this business model is a recipe for failure, especially sad for a company that has been in business for 130 years--don't see that happening this century MPMReview from Phil W

There was an unauthorized charge on my credit card from the Omaha World Herald. I called them and they said they would remove the charge. I checked with my credit card company one week later and they had not removed the charge. I tried calling them over the next five days approx 15 times but kept getting the same message as follows: "Due to extreme heavy call volume your call cannot be answered at this time, please call back later" I finally had to call my credit card company to get the charge removed. Omaha World Herald has extremely poor customer service
