I suffered a house fire in July 2021 and have been in the process of rebuilding. I received my first draw from my insurance (which is being held in escrow by my mortgage company since I still owe on my house) at the beginning of January which was made out to my contractor, myself, and my partner (as is customary to ensure all parties are paid). My contractor deposited the check without issue. Fast forward to this week and when my contractor went to deposit the second draw, the branch manager, Kim, at the East Main location refused to accept the endorsed check. She stated the acceptance of the first check was a mistake and required that both my partner and I submit notorized letters stating we endorsed the checks. She now has put a 7 day hold on the check for absolutely no reason when the first check has already cleared and the account it is being deposited into has more than enough money to cover the amount of the deposit. This woman is intentionally making it difficult to do business for no reason. No bank requires a notorized letter to accept an endorsed check.
