I called Deans Plumbing because I had a leaking plastic type water shut off valve under a bathroom sink. The technician showed up on time and informed me that he could replace the leaking plastic valve with a metal valve at a cost of $250.00. (valve cost is about $10). There are two plastic valve under that sink so total replacement cost was $500. Unfortunately I did not have time to get other quotes so I went ahead and had them replaced. He completed the work in about 30 minutes. Since then I have spoken to friends that do plumbing work and they stated that this should have cost no more than $125.00 including a trip charge. I blame myself for agreeing to have this work done but needless to say I will never call Deans again.Dean's Home Services Response

On July 14th, I had a drains professional come to assess clogged drain. I had a drain cleaning scheduled for July 22nd and paid for it that day. On July 22nd, a different drain person came out but did not clean the drain in question. Instead, they took a video of my sewer line out to the road. There were tree roots and cracks in the pipe so I also scheduled an epoxy liner to be put in on July 29th. I signed the financing that day for the liner. I expected someone to come clean my original drain that I had paid for but they never showed up. On July 29th, the epoxy liner was put in without issue but the team there still said that I had to talk to the office about cleaning my other drain. 3 attempts to contact them later, and I have not been able to get this drain cleaning done. When I call them, they say that the work has been completed (which is a LIE) but I have other quotes with them that I could sign and pay for more work. WHY would I give you more money when I can’t get you to do the job I’ve already paid for?? Seriously predatory business practices! Please don’t call them. Save yourself the very expensive headache I’m going through.Review from Judy T

I had a leak under my kitchen sink the plumber arrived and replaced 2 valves. Charged me $600.00 and ended up not even being the source of the leak. Took about 5 minutes to do the job talked to me longer than that. I will never again use a company that does all repairs to houses. This happened in Jan 2023 and I’m still mad about it. Everyone stay away from these places. I have an excellent plumber now he is honest and does a great job. And all he does is plumbing!Dean's Home Services Response

Hi Judy, although this was very disheartening to read, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. After reviewing your account, we had a plumber out to your home on February 6th, 2023, for the issue of leaking coming from under the sink. Our Plumber provided options, and with a signed estimate approving work, preformed the fix. We do see all the tests performed and validated that the work that was completed was leak free. We sincerely apologize that you are upset about the situation, if there is anything further we could assist you with, please reach out to our customer care team.Review from Teresa M

Dean's came to our home to look at our air exchange unit. When they were here, they told me I needed a new furnace in addition to other items. They actually told me that they had to turn off the furnace and red tag it as it was unsafe to operate. I had Home Service Plus come out and look at the furnace and they told me I did not need to replace the furnace and it was safe to operate. Dean's pressured me to get the furnace done immediately which would have cost us $15,000 + Thank goodness, I got a second option. Shame on you Dean's for turning off my furnace in the winter and lying to me that I needed a new furnace because it was no longer safe. Believe me, I am telling all my friends what a scam you are.Dean's Home Services Response

Came out for smell in upstairs bathroom. Did inspection of house which we were ok with. quotes $4800 for new water softener and 2 toilets, or $1800 for softener replacement. The only issue with the toilets was he said they were running constantly but one was at a low rate. He said it would be hard to find the part for the Mansfield toilet (part of float mechanism in tank) and if we didn’t replace repairs would be $500 each anyways, so we minus we’ll do replacement for 1k. (We found a replacement set of all the parts in tank for $20 at Home Depot). If we didn’t repair the toilets he suggested that we could get a backup and upstairs is the “last place” we would want that. He said our water hardness was 17-20 and the softener took it to 10. According to the city and our own test, New Hope is at ~4-5. He never offered repair options for our softener and didn’t seem to know where the smell was coming from. Our chlorine level is 3PPM and he noted that that was bordering on bad and chlorine can cause “irritation in the lungs.” It felt like a fear based sales technique and we had to say no 3-4 times at the end before he left. He kept pushing then suggested maybe he could talk his manager on the pricing when we said we needed to think about it. Why not just offer your real pricing to begin with? We found a different plumber who knew the problem in a few minutes and did not try to scare us into a buy before he left. I feel very negative about the company, would never recommend them and am so glad we didn’t sign anything.Dean's Home Services Response

Routine annual sewer line tree root clearing was performed to keep residential home wastewater flowing to the city sanitary line unobstructed by tree roots. All they performed was to cut tree root obstruction ineffectively leaving all the debris in the waste discharge line. After they made a mess in the line and left the site my sewer line which was working as designed prior to their failed maintenance attempt. Immediately following my laundry discharge line rinse cycle my sewer line clogged flooding the basement area. They returned after my complaint however, would not proceed with cleaning/clearing the sewer flooding issue that they created. This issue was clearly explained on the phone with company representative. Technician on site was original person responsible for the poor quality previously performed sewer line work was told on the phone by his manager while on site to correct the issue with me (customer) the technician was told to leave and perform no corrective work. Shady company stay away. I believe, all they were interested in is to replace sewer line at price quoted at an estimated price of 8 to 10 thousand dollars.Dean's Home Services Response

Hi ****, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. After taking the time to review your account, it looks like you called Deans regarding our $49 Open Line promotion that includes up to 1 hour attempt and camera inspection, that was completed. We found a belly in your line and roots all throughout compromising your line. We understand that sometimes bad news can not be taken well and we are so sorry you believe that's all we wanted. Our team offered several other options besides just our 1 hour promotion that wouldn't solve your issue. We'd be happy to send over the camera inspection video or supporting documents. Again, we are so sorry we had to deliver bad news but wish you the best for you and your homes solution.Review from Ray H

I was very disappointed and angry that Dean's didn't indicate that I would be charged a diagnostic fee, as well as the fee for coming out. He supposedly used a camera which doesn't see underwater. (Why use it then?) He got stuck at 25 to 30 feet, with weeds. I was charged $430.00 for the snaking and the camera. My drain isn't cleared, and I've spent $578.00. They also added a Dean's membership to the bill for another $99.00. Why would I want a membership in an organization that is this untrustworthy I should have sensed that they are a slippery outfit. They are supposed to come out Friday with a real camera. God knows what the estimate will be after that. My advice is to avoid this company like the plague. They are out to pick your pocket. I talked to another drain service that I've used in the past, and they would only charge $225.00 for the cleaning. Perhaps, I'll end up going with this other company in the end after having spent so much for nothing. This system is forcing me to use a star. I wish there were negative stars I would leave that instead.Dean's Home Services Response

Hi, ***** thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sincerely apologize if there is any confusion on the estimate approved by you to completed the work. After reviewing your account, it looks like you notified out Drains Technician that you had another company work on your line in 2012, when ************** attempted to clear the line, he pulled back roots. Instead of continuing to push our way through the line and compromise your line, our goal was to set a camera inspection so we knew the best option for your home. Again, we apologize for any miscommunication and trying to attempt to help. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about why we took this approach, give us a call!Customer Response

I don't accept Deans statement as accurate. ****** concern about compromising my line justifies charging a fee of $430.00 to simply diagnose that it's blocked. I knew that before I called. If they told me upfront that they would charge $430 for a diagnosis, I would never accept that ridiculous price. That's why you don't find out until the end of the visit. I had Geno's drains do it for $225. There was no sales pitch or any lies about all the things that could be wrong with my sewer line. Of course, you push through the roots, or weeds. Isn't that the way cleaning a line is done? I guess the bottom line is that the public needs to know about these deceptive practices, the confusion in billing suits Dean's Home Services just fine. More "confusion", more profits for ******. Save yourself some trouble, and just call someone else in the first place.Review from Richard M

Deans estimate to fix my leaky outdoor facet was $650. I fixed it myself with a plyers. It took 2 seconds. Estimate to replace a small gasket on my other outdoor facet was $849. 10 minutes of labor. I fixed it myself. I would call this price gouging or just dishonest.
