    • Review from Uber S

      1 star

This is in regards to the NYC Uber / Lyft settlement. That’s being handled by RUST CONSULTING. I received both emails and letters stating I was entitled for a settlement from both companies and had to file a claim before a certain deadline. Which I did on time. I then received text messages from Uber and Lyft that a payment had been processed. I received the Lyft check within a week after the text message which was less than $200 but I’m still waiting on the Uber check which is over $4000. When I called up Rust Consulting and was told that the check was sent out already. And should receive it shortly. After weeks went by I called again to check on the status and was told to wait it was sent. After calling again was then told the check was returned. Mind you I never received any notification (usually a small orange paper) from the post office that mail was undeliverable. So now I’m being told that they have to reissue another check that can take up to 6 weeks because they shredded the old check. From everything that I’ve seen online this company seems to be holding large amount checks for an extended period of time for either interest or investment on t there end. DON’T TELL PEOPLE THAT A CHECK HAS BEEN SENT OUT WHEN THAT’S NOT THE CASE. You’re not able to speak to a supervisor to resolve the issue neither. Very unprofessional and unethical with this company!!!!!

The review pertains to a settlement reached between the New York State Office of the Attorney General and ***** Rust specializes in the administration of class action settlements and similar programs involving notification, contact centers, claims processing, and fund distribution. Rust is a neutral third-party administrator and was engaged to carry out certain administrative aspects of the settlement as established by the parties and to answer questions. The reviewer did not include his apartment number on the claim form he completed and submitted online. This is why **** was unable to deliver it and returned it to **** as undeliverable. (In the claim form that he filed for the separate Lyft settlement, he did include his apartment number, which is why that check was deliverable but the **** check was not; **** uses address information as it is provided by claimants in these settlements). The reviewer called Rust on August 22 and provided an updated address, including the apartment number. He requested a reissued check on August 28. Rust issues checks in batches -- ranging from thousands to millions -- to facilitate efficiency and to ensure we are not risking errors to payments and the overall administration. The typical process time is up to six weeks for reissues, which is what we have explained to the reviewer.Rust adheres strictly to the law in our handling of settlement funds. We have administered over ***** cases and distributed over $35 billion in settlement funds throughout our 45 years in the legal administration industry, under the supervision of our clients as well as the relevant courts. Rust does not--and could not--minimize, delay, or deny payments to keep class members' funds. Our work, including the distribution of funds, is done according to the terms and timelines of each settlement and under the supervision of courts and the parties to those settlements.

I called back in October 2023 for my funds from the NYC bail settlement. The receptionist was racist and started to say racists words against my name. After that they denied me my funds asking for more documents which I did. Now they using a different way by saying under pending review. I contacted Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel LLP and spoke to attorney Carlos who told me that Rust consultant lied about the required extra documents because my name & date of birth matches & social security. What big problem is not just depriving me of my funds but that racist receptionist who started it all & this company is aiding her by giving me a hard time. This is so humiliating & disgraceful.

The review relates to the settlement in the class action lawsuit ***** v. ****************, No. 17 Civ. 7577 (S.D.N.Y.). Rust specializes in the administration of class action settlements and similar programs involving notification, contact centers, claims processing, and fund distribution. Rust is a neutral third-party administrator and was engaged to carry out certain administrative aspects of the settlement as established by the parties and to answer questions. The reviewers claim form was deficient. **** sent him a deficiency letter informing him of the status and how to correct his claim to receive a payment. The postmark deadline to respond to the deficiency letter was 12/18/2023. The reviewer sent his response on 2/20/2024 and it was received on 2/23/2024. We nonetheless forwarded it to counsel for consideration specifically to the paralegal referenced by name in the review and we are awaiting their decision as to whether or not to pay the claim. We have reviewed the recording of the call in question and we strongly deny the accusation of racism in the review. Our employees work hard every day to provide accurate information to callers in a respectful manner.Again, if approved by counsel, we will pay the reviewers claim as soon as possible. We have no information as to how long the process will take but will notify him when we have a status update

I am part of GTL Prepaid Settlement. I received a check dated 10/27/2023 for the amount $15.95 . I could not cash the check for the reason it did separate from the postcard it was sent with. The perforated edges were stuck shut and without damaging the check it was impossible to sign reverse for redemption. I am highly disappointed and am sending back the check to Rust Consulting Inc.-7513, P.O.Box 2627, Faribault, MN 55021-9627. The check was issued from Huntington Bank. I need the check reissued and please send in a standard envelope so it does not again get stuck together and one cannot sign the reverse for redemption. It is being returned priority mail and hopefully this issue will be resolved quickly. I NEVER have seen this happen to a check before where it cannot be signed on the reverse or retrieved from the postcard along the perforated edges.

Received check dated December 2, 2022. Deposit on December 15th. Posted December 20, 2022. Deposit rejected for closed account. Fee assessed for "returned item." I am apart of the bimbo bakery settlement. I've been tryna get ahold of a Rust representative but everytime I call the phone just rings off the hook!! Funds were to be disbursed a month ago still nothing. I'm beginning to get worried. I've heard that this business intentionally withholds settlement checks and from the looks of it, this may very much be true. I was not given a website, number, nor correspondence after the fact. I returned all documents and was told to contact Rust by the departmentof Labor. Well it's my money and I need it now. I'll be reaching back out to the U.S. department of labor because this is Absurd. There is no way it should take this long to process our checks, it's been 8 months. Literally

This company is a sick joke. I had agreed to participate in a class action lawsuit against ***** ********** quite some time ago. I finally got a check for $21.27 while I was out of town working for several months. When I got home and went through my mail, I found the check and immediately deposited it via my phone. It almost immediately came back as no good, and I was charged a $12.00 return item fee by ***** **********! How insulting! So I checked the check closer, and noticed it had been issued on June 25th, and expired 60 days later on August 24th! Who in the heck does that? Most checks are good for at least 6 months. So when I tried to call them, and at least get the check reissued to cover the $12.00 return item cost, nobody answers the phone, and it is impossible to get through to anyone. So now I have participated in this class action lawsuit, and got screwed out of $12.00 by Rust Consultings ridiculous 60 day check cashing policy. In my opinion, there should be another class action lawsuit against Rust Consulting for their arrogant disbursement abuse of power.
