I signed up to attend school here in February to pursue a bachelors degree in computer science. Unfortunately I was never able to become a degree seeking student because none of my transcripts would be accepted by the university. I took one semester and ended up quitting halfway through my second because the school was not helpful with not accepting my documentation and that was very frustrating. I also found a couple of my instructors to be unhelpful/uncaring and this made it more difficult for me to study there. That being said I am going to be attending another school soon, but I was very excited about the idea of university of the people.Review from Craig C

I am a current MBA UoP student from ** who started taking classes in September of 2022. I have completed 21 out of 36 credits with a **** GPA. The school is legitimate and is impressive with its curriculum and peer-to-peer grading structure. One of the challenges I am experiencing is a grade appeal with my instructor. We disagree on the grading however, there is an appeal process which I have successfully grieved in the past with another class. Recently, my Grade Advisor (our lifeline in an online college) has changed multiple times and I have no Advisor to communicate with at this time. Unfortunately, when a new Advisor comes on board, you have to start the entire process of communicating all the details again....very frustrating and perhaps, not fair. The equity is in favor of the University. I am writing this review as all stakeholders should be aware of the challenges that can be faced in an online education environment. I'm hoping this process will get resolved soon, but I started this appeal on 12/2/2023 and the situation is not improving. Lastly, I truly believe that online college is paving the way to more accessible, engaging, rigorous, and cheaper education. To get an accredited MBA degree for $3,600 is truly amazing! I collaborate with people all around the world in my classes...*********, ********, *******, *******, etc. I am hopeful yet frustrated.Review from Gwendolyn G

I am 66 and just finished my MBA. My experience was awesome. Each Unit (Course period) was smooth. My professors were very cooperative and responsive. I am thinking about working on my M.ed now.Review from Alfredo C

Most bad reviews are simply from disgruntled students who didn't get their way. This school is totally legit and has *************** and a very rigorous curriculum. I have completed a bachelors of business administration which was verified by my employer which is a fortune 500 company that only employs individuals with legit degrees. I highly recommend this school to a serious student who doesn't want everything handed to them. It does require a lot of work and effort, which in my opinion also make it a great school.Review from Francis D

I signed up because a YouTube video uploaded by this self-described school states that ************ is studying here and we can all become students together with her. The video also claims that ************ is a "representative" and "ambassador" of the University of the People. Fake news! As soon as you log on, you realize that the whole story is invented. ************ never studied or graduated here. This website likes to make fun of people.University of the People Response

Hi Francis, please note that Simone was a student with us and she was our global ambassador before taking a break to focus on other engagements. Feel free to watch a clip of Simone in conversation with our President here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ty3zU_kbOY You'll also see a clip of her proudly announcing that she's a UoPeople global ambassador at: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX We hope this provides the clarification you need.Review from Allie F

so my account was locked to where i could not view much. I by accident clicked to where i could not transfer my credits from another university. I talked to a live agent by the name of harshith. I was told I could not transfer my credits again till I become a full student. This is upsetting to me. When I asked for a refund they said they could not give me my application fee back. I was unaware of this. I want my refund. I have been to college in the past and this is not how it is suppose to be. I feel lied to.University of the People Response

This school charged me $60 application fee that I paid with no issue. Early registration started Dec. 9th. I tried to register for courses Dec. 13th and registration is closed. The website says registration is open from Dec. 9th - Dec. 29th but I'm still not able to register for any courses or get a reply from my advisor. I've sent several emails to my advisor since that's the only way I can contact anyone but nothing back except an unrelated email telling me to learn about the school. I feel like I was cheated out of $60 and I'm currently trying to figure out how to get a refund so I can move on with my life. I strongly suggest everyone stay away from this place. They'll steal your money!University of the People Response

Tried to join UoP, however, they couldn't process a my high school diploma after sending in this very simple documentation three times. How can I trust them with my education when they are incapable of handling the first step in their application process? I was unaware, until joining the Facebook groups, that this school also uses a peer review grading system, which many have described as "chaotic." I wouldn't have signed up had I thought that my peers would be in charge of grading my school work. I asked for a refund within 72 hours of submitting my application and was told they will not process my $60 application refund. I was even kicked off the chat with Suma for requesting a refund.University of the People Response

Hello Alyssa, UoPeople is an American accredited university, and all the requirements for supporting documents are as required by the DEAC. We asked your admissions advisor to contact you. We hope to see this issue resolved shortly. Regarding our peer-to-peer learning pedagogy, this is designed to give our students the skills that prove helpful and necessary for their professional careers and is a system overseen by our qualified instructors.Customer Response

I already sent in three documents verifying my diploma from my high school, including my high school transcripts. It's not my problem your system can't read them, maybe you need a new system so that all students can send them over. I utilized multiple methods to send them in. If I ask for a refund before the term began, that should be granted. Very scammy way to get my $60.Customer Response
