Possible attempt to perform unneeded repairs.Brought in for an AC repair. Here is an excerpt of text received: ************** we have completed your vehicles AC diagnostic and multipoint inspection. 1) Replace Evap. core, expansion valve, recharge and recheck: AC diagnostic result - AC system has no Freon due to large leak in the Evaporator core. Evap. core located behind dash board part and labor to replace $6,304.67...I took to another business and they said my AC pressure test was successful, recharged, was about $100. has worked now for a month of all day driving (**** miles) while in up to 100deg heat. I can only conclude that this was an attempt to do unneeded repairs.

They asked for $13k over MSRP as a supply and demand up charge. Never in my life have I seen that. Seems like false advertising at a minimum. Wild. Stay away.

      *********
I only have 30,000 miles on my Camry Hybrid 2016 but last year they found $3,000 things they must do.
This year it started with another $1500 things they must do.

I just brought it in today X-XX-XX for oil change.

They found $3000 things must do immediately.

I only paid for oil change and took it to Pep Boys car perfectly fine, perfectly fine did not need the $3000 immediate service.

Last two years I am being ripped off over $4000 for unnecessary service.

This customers last 2 visits has been oil and filter changes only with no documented recommendations !
The role of a "Service Advisor" is to advise the customer of what the technicians have inspected on the vehicle.
If needed service or repairs are needed the "Service Advisor" advises the customer .
It is the customers prerogative if they choose to have the recommended work done or not.
If we did not inform the customer of what the technicians finds then we are liable and are not doing our job as paid for by the cusotmer. .

So the Tech can find things not there.
So if the customer pays for it I would be paying for $3000 for service not needed and there.
Pep Boys People looked at my car and told me to my face the Tech at Toyota lied to you.
There is no leaking and this service is only needed later on for cars with many more miles.
So the Techs can make up what ever they want and if the customer pays, Marina Del Rey the richer even if service not needed.
So my question for the readers how many customers are paying for services not needed and don't know it.

On the week of December 13, 2021, I went to Marina Del Rey Toyota to the parts department to ask for some seat parts for my Toyota Pick up truck. The service clerk did not have the parts and gave me the part number. Then I asked for some power steering fluid and he said they didn't have any. So I realized I should get all the part numbers for the seats, and when I asked the service clerk for all the part numbers he responded "that's all you come for". And that he was too busy and had work to do. So I said, that's how you treat your customers and left. On December 14, 2021 I called Joy Anderson, Customer Relations Manager and was told she was on leave and I was transferred to John and left a message at 11:20am. He didn't call back and I called again, and was told to talk to Alex. I left him a message at 11;36am on December 14th. He didn't call back.On December 16, 2021 at 11:14 am I spoke to Chuck Serafin and explained what happened. He said he would call me back after he investigated the situation. He never called back. On December 17, 2021, I left a messages with *****, the general manager at 1:30pm and at 3:00pm and he didn't call back. On December 20, 2021 at 6:00pm I went into Marina Del Rey Toyota with my wife and spoke to Mario Romero and he said he would call me the next day after 12:00pm, which he didn't. On December 21, 2021, at 4:50pm, I spoke to Janelle, the receptionist took down my message to have Mario or John to return my call. Later onJohn called and when I started to explain what happened he told me to cut it short, so I said, "fire him" because John didn't seem interested to hear what had happened. I am asking BBB to help me get Marina Del Rey Toyota to respond to my messages and I don't want this to happen to any other innocent person, Thank you. I really don't think they deserve a one star rating, I would give them a zero star rating, but Iit doesn't allow me to do this.

Customer wanted to decide the fate of an employee by demanding that we fire the employee. The customer has no authority to determine what happens to an employee nor are they entitled to be told what disciplinary actions come to an employee. They are a customer, that is all. Customer is out of line and does not have to choose to return to Marina del Rey Toyota if they are unhappy with the service. There will be no further conversation about this topic.

On 07/08/2021 bought a used car from Marina Del Rey Toyota. The tags were expired May 2020 when sold. I followed up with Mariana (DMV Clerk) periodically and was told that it could take up to a year for them to receive the tittle. After several unanswered voicemails to both Marianna and ***** I decided to come into the dealer. Spoke with the finance person who told me they are still waiting for the title before they can mail the paperwork to DMV. Very unprofessional and I am very unsatisfied with the lack of effort. I also noticed that I was charged $770 for registration/transfer/title. Clearly from XXXX-XXXX. If a dealer doesn't have all the proper paperwork to sell a vehicle, then they should NOT be selling it. Meanwhile I am driving around in a car with expired tags from May 2020 and here it is almost 2022. They absolutely had no interest in pushing along the process or resolving the issue.
