We're Still Around and Better Than Ever!

Paula Fleming, CMSO, discusses how BBB is still around and better than ever in December 2023.

I recently had a conversation with someone who was surprised to learn that the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is still around. They thought we were a relic of the past, something that only our grandparents knew about.

Well, I'm here to tell you that the BBB is alive and well, and we're more relevant than ever. In fact, we're helping businesses and consumers in ways that we never could before.

For businesses, we offer a variety of resources and services to help them succeed, including:

  • Accreditation: BBB accreditation is a powerful signal to consumers that your business is trustworthy and committed to ethical practices.

  • Dispute Resolution: We help businesses resolve disputes with customers quickly and fairly.

  • Marketing Resources: We provide businesses with the tools and resources they need to market their products and services effectively.

For consumers, we offer a variety of resources to help them make informed decisions, including:

  • Business Profiles: Our business profiles provide consumers with information about businesses, including their accreditation status, complaint history, and customer reviews.

  • Scam Alerts: We warn consumers about scams and other fraudulent activities.

  • Tips and Resources: We provide consumers with tips and resources on a variety of topics, such as how to shop online safely and how to protect their identity.

In addition to our traditional services, we're also using technology to reach consumers in new and innovative ways. For example, we have a mobile app that allows consumers to access our business profiles and file complaints on the go. We're also active on social media, where we provide consumers with tips and resources.

So, the next time someone asks you if the BBB is still around, you can tell them with confidence that we are. And we're better than ever!

Here are some of the ways that the BBB is helping businesses and consumers in today's world:

  • Helping businesses navigate the complex regulatory landscape.

  • Protecting consumers from scams and fraudulent activities.

  • Promoting ethical business practices.

  • Empowering consumers to make informed decisions.

If you're a business owner, I encourage you to learn more about BBB membership. And if you're a consumer, I encourage you to use our resources to make informed decisions about the products and services you purchase.

Together, we can make the world a better place for businesses and consumers.
