** ** ***** **** **** * **** **** ****** ** ****** **** ** *** ***** ********* ******* ***** **** ***** ***** *** ******* *** ** *** **** ************** ********* ***** **** ***** **** ** ***** Our 2022 vehicle burned to the ground over a month ago, and since then we have had to follow-up every week (sometimes more than once) and the adjuster has called us ONCE. We have been assured she will call and she never does, or she claims she did but there are no voicemails and no record of the call. We have always been timely in our premium payments, we have never made a claim on ANY of the 5 vehicles insured with them (which will be cancelled as soon as the current claim is resolved), and the level of service we have received has been abysmal. Every time we call to check the status of the claim, since our adjuster never calls or returns calls, we get a different story about what the status is, we get told that the adjuster will "call back", we get told *there is no customer service department or supervisor we can speak with* unless we wait 24-48 hours for another callback (which shockingly haven't come yet). This company appears to promote thievery as well, given that they have refused to consider the FACTS when replacement value came in $13,000+ lower than it should have, and we had many comparibles that showed the ***** to be even higher. The adjuster and supervisor at that time stated that they would not consider the comparibles, and that the payout was the payout. This was one week ago today, and when we called for an update today (since the cheque has not yet arrived), we were told there was no cheque and that they were still reviewing. **** ** *************** ************ *********** ******* ** **** *****belairdirect Response

On August 28, 2024, the UCM (Unit Claims Manager) contacted the insured to discuss their concerns. The customer expressed that they've resolved some issues with their lienholder. The UCM apologized for the delays associated with the file. The customer has advised that Belair sales has compensated them as well. There were no further concerns with the file.

Insurance policy was cancelled without warning and with no attempt to contact me due to "non-payment". The company has my address, email, and phone number, and yet I did not receive any communication of an issue with the payment at any point. I only found out when I was required to renew my license plate the following year - and Belair expected me to pay an extra $2000 each year because of their screw-up. **** ******** *** ****** *** ** ********* *****belairdirect Response

No less than 4 phone calls with associated voicemails. Suddenly, Belair is capable of reaching me. Where was this effort when there was an issue with the payment card? I've moved on to another insurer at this point, *** ****** ****** ** ** *** *****Review from Asger T

seriously over priced, and impossible to deal with. I've been on the phone, on hold for over an hour, waiting to talk with someone. Their ite and app both require a cell phone (text verification), o if you only have a land line you can't use it. They make dealing with them almost impossible, and charge 30-40% over competitive quotes.belairdirect Response

When I called to discuss possible repairs for a scratch on my vehicle, I was not aware that the rep was creating a claim. I explained this was my first owned vehicle and that the scratch was something that happened when I had to menuever away from a neighbor who had stumbled and got in the way of my vehicle. The rep was very understanding and made sure I felt heard, I was shocked beyond belief when my premium had double 8 months later as a result of this call. There was no estimate of damage yet they claimed that it was a major collision where I was 100 % at fault. I have been ********* **** **** for months attempting to correct this faulty claim. I have tried to set the record straight, have spent hours and hours speaking to reps or waiting on hold and no one will help me. I can't pay the new premium and refuse to consent to this claim. I feel at a loss and wish I could get help, no one at belaire will support me and I don't know what to do.Review from Joshua K

***** **** ********* ******** I was involved in a hit and run where I received a scratch along the side of my truck. Luckily my truck was FULLY COVERED (Or so I thought). After bringing it in to Belair's service centre they did not provide any updates for 2 weeks. I got through and was told that my truck has a thin line of rust and the company does not believe in "Bettering" there clients vehicles under no circumstance. They told me I needed to pay over 2000 dollars to cover the new panel so they could continue with the repair or to accept a cash payout. After deciding to accept the cash payout of roughly 2500 dollars I was immediately plagued with"deductions". I was required to pay $461.00 for "Overhead fees" which... even the adjuster struggled to explain what these were. Also $115.45 towards "GST". That day I was told that my truck was ready to be picked up. After arriving at their facility I was told my truck was not there and they were going to have it delivered back in the morning. Again when I arrived the following morning my truck was still MIA. I dropped off the rental and took an **** (at my own expense) to where my truck was being held ********. I finally got my truck back ******* ** ***** ****** *** *** **** ******** *** **** ** *********** Thinking I was at the end of this very irritating experience I received a final phone call explaining to me that an additional $150.00 dollars would be deducted from my payout for a wheel alignment that was performed... I brought my truck in for a scratch... Why would a wheel alignment need to be done. My truck was transported without my knowledge, had work done to it without my knowledge, I'm left with no where near enough to fix anything. They cancelled my car insurance! I had just returned from a vacation and I had a registered letter waiting for me at the post office. When I went to the post office IIt was from Belair direct saying my insurance was cancelled because I did not fill out the forms they mailed to me. I did not receive any thing from Belair Direct! I am not in the habit of throwing out mail. What I didn’t understand is why they couldn’t email me or call or text, anything before cancelling it. I then contacted the number provided and was on hold forever, and finally I was told That I needed to fill out this form and email it to them.I had to do it twice because I missed the part and finally they sent me an email to log into my account and it was renewed for the next year **** *** **** *********** ** *** I have never had insurance cancel. My driving record is perfect and I have had no claims since I moved with Belair direct over three years ago. I have had my plan recently transferred to BelairDirect. In the renewal package I was sent I was provided with a document with insurance legalese which for this individual was beyond my scope of comprehension. Further I perused the information regarding the four vehicles we would be insuring through renewal. Upon such I found their documentation fraught with errors. I took far too long to observe the errors and drafted an email to Belair Direct because I waited for a telephone to be answered and I didn't need to wait far longer than I did. I sent my email April 5, 2024. the returned a response to my email on April 16th notifying me eleven days after the fact that I would need to contact them by phone; we had gone full circle but took eleven days to get nowhere. I listed 15 errors in their documentation of the vehicles but three points of clarification. It took me time to send this document but my purpose in it is to make certain no one else needs to go through this far less that satisfactory customer service. My initial letter: Apr 5th Policy ******** **** ********* ¾ ton pickup truck It is a *** ; whatever the listed *** 30/3500 pickup is, the *** is not! It is not a 1 ton pickup it is a ¾ ton pickup! It was purchased for slightly over $5000.00; not close to the $20,000.00 stated! It is not a 4WD! It was purchased new in 1975, new, in Taber. It was not bought used! It was not purchased 01/01/04! It has never been located in Taber! It's used as a household work and garden vehicle. (my wife) has never been the “other driver”! It is a stick-shift and not in her skill set. Sec. B list premium $134; this is increased from $54 a 2.5% increase, is this correct? 2010 **** ******* ** Convertible This vehicle has never been located in Taber. **** ******** ********** ** **** ** **** ** ***** *********** ** ****** **** ******* **** ****** ** **** ** ******* ***** After over 30+ years with a broker & a company we were very satisfied with, it was bought by Belair & we received same initial covering letters stating there would be no changes, nothing to do on our part. They really push using their app & online services though. We are a bundle (cars, house,cottage). Our car(s) policies arrived earlier this year. After contacting Belair as they had changed one car from seasonal storage to active without my consent, I asked about the large premium increase & was told all insurance companies were raising premiums & they were one of the first to do so. When we received the house & cottage policy recently, ** **** **** **** *********** Belair made year changes, wrong years, add ons & options ( some $0, some $$$) changed the deductibles etc. Transition has meant lots of research on our part to go over the Belair contracts line by line, comparing our previous policy with theirs, checking to pick out differences, premium increases & coverage changes & most importantly what they do not cover. They even wrote in bold warnings the policy contains a clause (that you have to search for) that may limit the amount payable. They also write it is a contract & to check for changes & accuracy. Therefore, the policy documents that outline your coverage, applicable limits, any deductible that would apply in the event of a claim and any exclusions are made available. In the welcome pages to these documents, the statement reads, “We encourage you to read these documents carefully as aspects of your policy may have changed”. Furthermore, a list is included of certain coverages or endorsements that may have been reduced/reimbursed or enhanced/increased considering the renewal to belairdirect specific products. To offer a transparent customer experience, we want our clients to have access to all this information, so they are well-informed of their insurance policy details. I am a new driver, so my insurance will inherently be higher than usual. ** ****** * ****** **** * *** **** ** * ********** *** *** ******* ********** **** ** * ****** ******** ********** * *** *** ** *** **** *** Called Belairdirect and was able to speak to an agent IN MINUTES. He walked me through the process of getting a quote, and was perfectly kind the entire time. For a mere $340 I get up to $1,000,000 of coverage on damage I do or done to me. Plus $1000 coverage on fire, theft, and general accidental damage. But that's not the best part. For just $10 extra, totaling only $350, they will give me a rental car if mine gets totaled while it is being repaired, and give me 4 uses of roadside assistance per year. If you live in a condo or condo-townhome and have a home insurance policy, please be aware Bel-air does NOT offer proper coverage for home insurance. At belairdirect, Condominium locations do not require mortgagee information to be added as we are not the primary insurer on the building. Our condominium insurance policy provides coverage for the insured’s contents and only secondary coverage on the building. Clients requesting a mortgagee to be added to their condominium insurance policy are advised to contact their Condominium management office to have their mortgage added to the Condominium Corporation’s policy.Customer Response

This is only an issue at Belair direct and creates an environment of ********** and non-transparency to their customers. I will be informing everyone I know who owns a condo to double check their policies with Belair.
