    It should never cost anyone $600 to replace a thermostat. This was a shocker for us to say the least! I would never use this company again. I had to put a 1 star but I would not give them that!

    DO NOT USE! On July 25th a tenant called at a rental property of mine saying it was 80 degrees in the house. So I called One Hour to come out and fix it. When I called their number they got someone out there within a few hours. Before they send someone out they collect a $99 service charge and the lady on the phone said it would be applied to the service. Fast forward the technician is there and says he checked for a leak and there isn’t one but it needs two units of refrigerant. When he said it was $350 I asked if the $99 would be applied and he said no because it wasn’t a repair. I told him to just go ahead and fix it because it was hot in the house and I couldn’t not fix it in the Texas heat with tenants in the home.

    A few days later I call the company to try and get the $99 dollars refunded and it was explained to me that they use a third party call center to schedule their calls. When I told him the lady on the phone said the $99 dollars would be applied to the service she didn’t mention only if it was a repair or any other stipulation I was told there was nothing they could do. I don’t see how it is my fault that I call the number on your website and it sends me to a third party company that doesn’t explain your pricing properly, I wasn’t even aware she wasn’t a One Hour employee.

    Fast forward to today my tenants called and said it was over 80 degrees in the house again. I call them back saying that whatever they did didn’t fix the AC. It was a long frustrating call but the cliff notes are when I got a supervisor on the phone he told me it would be a $129 service charge non refundable since it would be considered an emergency. I explained to him the issue with the first service charge and he said it is on me because the tech let me know it wasn’t applied on the phone.     Our policy is to waive the service fee if a repair is completed, which was communicated by the technician during the visit. Unfortunately, adding refrigerant (freon) is not considered a repair, which you acknowledged and approved before the technician began any of the work.
    We reviewed the initial call recording (from 7/25 at around 10:45 AM) and while the service fee was mentioned multiple times, there was no discussion of applying it toward future service. If you believe there was another call under a different phone number that may provide additional context, we’d be happy to review it. We’re also working to ensure our representatives effectively outline our policies and pricing structure to prevent future misunderstandings.     Last year in August they came out, my system was very low and took approximately 4.5 pounds of Freon. The system was not cooling again, so I called them explaining the above. They said they would send someone out for possible warranty work. If it was a different issue I would need to pay the $***** service fee. Than was fine with me. I was at work when they came, my adult son was home. After checking the system the tech called me and advised the expansion valve had failed and the system was full of freon. They wanted $1600.00 to replace the valve. This is high so I paid the ***** and got a second quote. This tech added 4 lbs of freon and the system is cooling as designed. I feel One Hour lied to me so they wouldn't have to warranty anything. The second tech recommends the evaporator core be replaced as it is aluminum and known for leaking, also on the low pressure side, if the leak was on the high pressure side it wouldn't last for several months before needing to be recharged. It's a very slow leak and the evaporator core is made in a box, not easy to find a leak. The rest of the system has been checked for leaks multiple times now.

    This company has an excellent communication skillset that I don't see often. From the first call, the office had me scheduled and a time frame within 4 hours, which was great. The office sent me a text with the picture and name of the Rep that was coming, which I also loved. Rep got here, put his slip on booties on before he entered the house, another surprising thing that not many other companies even think of when they enter my house. Winston was dressed nicely, had a smile for us and was all business. He got in the attic to look at the unit and double checked everything there and outside. He explained what he saw and even showed us pictures. Very thorough and professional. Next day the company sent out their inspector to see what plan of action we could take because the unit was old and heating element obsolete. Our ducts were lying on the attic floor and should have been handing so the flow could flow! Very happy with One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating. Thank you for paying attention to details and explaining on our level.
