DO NOT HIRE HIM! We signed a contract for a pool and patio extension with Smith Custom Pools & Lakes, LLC, on May 15, 2021. While at first, Mr. Smith was very diligent in his responsiveness and customer service, that quickly dwindled after he was able to get the initial large payouts per our contract. From October 18, 2021 until April 29, 2022 (the day we terminated our contract), there was zero work done on our pool. (That's 193 days of zero work on our pool!) When we tried voicing our concerns about the timeline, Mr. Smith assured us the pool would be done by Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Year. When we asked for a specific timeline for remaining deliverables in Feb. 2022, Mr. Smith initially said he would get us one, but he failed to do so until he finally acknowledged himself that even if he did give us a timeline, he would not be able to meet it. Time and time again, he made endless excuses for delays and setbacks. He waited to order materials causing us to have to order different things than what we originally chose for our deck. Our patio extension took a long time because he wanted to complete the work without securing an engineering drawing which was required by the city. He did not call the engineer to come do inspections during the patio construction process, and thus, we do not currently have windstorm certification. He still has yet to pay the engineer and the framer for work they completed on our house even though we paid him more than $8,000 above the work completed. Overall, per our contract, there were multiple things that were included that he simply did not do including two fire bowls, three lights in the pool, pre-wire for sound, rope lights, and many other items. Please don't be fooled by his claim to "37 years in industry." It's honestly apalling that he's been able to get away with scamming people for this long. On top of this, he has 5 lawsuits against him and 1 other lawsuit for his home building business. DO NOT HIRE HIM!
