            We signed a nearly 7month lease for a fully furnished unit starting February 4th-August 31st, 2022. Within 1 week of moving in we started having issue after issue. The microwave didnt work, the televisions wouldnt even turn on, all of the air conditioners were covered in mold blowing mold into the air, the dryer didnt work, one of the showers didnt work at all, the other one barely dripped enough to rinse off, one of the toilets wouldt work, the oven stopped working (didnt have a fully functioning kitchen until July 22), one of the air conditioners started leaking buckets and (wasnt fixed for over 8 weeks), the dryer stopped working again in June (as it was old and wasnt fixed until the day we did our checkout), appliances such as coffee pot, toaster etc that didnt work. These issues never wound up getting fixed completely for the duration of our lease. In June we were tired of the issues and told them we were done. We had been more than cooperative and understanding, but it was ridiculous to not have very basic things like a kitchen, working dryer or clean air when you have a family with 3 small children. They agreed to let us out of our lease me of July as nothing was getting fixed and were going to discuss with the owner about discounting the months we stayed there as we were paying for a FULLY functioning, fully furnished unit, but it was seriously anything but that. We did the check out and they said everything was good and we would get our full deposit back. ****, assured me that they would speak with the owner and come up with an agreement to discount rent. Our security deposit came, but they told us to cancel that one as they made a mistake and were sending a new one out. The new one came and was tied to in full satisfaction of all claims related to property which we absolutely are not in agreement with. They are holding our security deposit hostage until we just cash it and accept they wont be liable further. Absolutely terrible and not okay.

            This property management company provides one of the worst services in ********. I recommend that everyone read the reviews on BBB as well as ****** before doing business with them.On 2 separate occasions, I applied to rent a long-term unit in Waikiki, and the long term rental specialist (****) was completely unprofessional. First, she does NOT return any phone calls or emails. I called the office line on multiple occasions to check on the status of my application, and no one answers the phone. I left several voicemails and never received a follow up call.When you are finally able to receive some form of communication, **** claims the unit(s) have already been rented to another customer despite the fact that they are still advertised as being available on Zillow, *************************** and *************. This company has taken $60.00 for me (for two different application fees) and has never refunded the money. This company engages in deceptive business practices, and **** does not treat customers with courtesy/respect. I do have all the written proof in the form of unanswered emails as well as phone records and bank statements which show the deduction of the money ($60).

            We are sorry for your misunderstanding.

            Here is the response form the property manager.

            She's asking for a refund but this was on the description on application and says "By entering your information here, you agree to the non-refundable application fee as set forth above. The charge will display on your statement as STARTS INTERNATIONAL HAWAII, INC.."


            Please check the attachment. (The **********)


            It was her choice to send ** an application.
            So no-refund will be made.

            The property manager (****) is claiming that I am posting this review about the company because of a refund request. This is not the case. The issue goes far deeper. The issue is that this company is unprofessional and unresponsive. **** posts listings on rental websites, and when you apply or contact her about it, you are left with zero answers. **** does not treat her customers with respect, and this is evidenced by all the poor reviews from several people who are / were affected.
