I went a vacation on October 23 and called to stop the paper on 21 October with return on 9 November 2023. When I called to stop the paper there was no mention of no credit given for the stopped paper nor was there mention that they would save the newspapers and proved them to me on my return from vacation. I called today to ask why I was not given a credit for my vacation stop. The agent stated that the Mercury News does give subscribers a credit for stopped papers and when I questioned him why he stated that it was not the papers policy to give credits for vacation stops. I stated that they did not provide that information when I stopped the newspaper nor the information about the saving of the stopped papers unless the subscribers asks for the newspapers. I told him this was a bunch of crap!!!!!Bay Area News Group Response

Our apologies. This policy is mentioned on your payment confirmation emails. The agent should have mentioned it. When your subscription is on temporary stop you still have access to our e-edition which is an exact replica of the printed paper. We will credit your subscription for the 15 days. Thank you for being a loyal reader.Review from Sandy L

I am supposed to receive a news paper daily so when I do not receive it which is becoming a quite often incident lately I call the office. I get either an automated answering machine telling me they will bring one right over. I NEVER receive one. If I get a person by a miraculous occasion, they promise to refund me. I have NEVER received a refund. Im very frustrated with this business.Bay Area News Group Response

No subscription online cancellation option. No email subscription cancellatin option. Having to make a phone call to cancel the East Bay Times is a nightmare. I was promised a rate much less than what I am being charged. There's no way I can get an invoice online. No way to cancel by mail.Disgusting. Especially for deaf or blind persons. Why don't they have a subscription cancellation online option? The reason is simply because the organization would go out of business. The newspaper itself is a ******** ****Review from Ted T

I'm a caring guy borrowing this phone/email to offer ALL of us, including the publisher, some critical protections. MERCURY NEWS still has false defaming atticles on the internet from 2017, (picked up by Patch and ********* Times), accusing a righteous woman of real estate fraud. She bought and owned the properties in question for 20+ years. The false accusations were made by an abusive X-husband she left, which he used to steal her life's assets and real estate. Her shares all went to him, illegally. She grew up with many high level government and covert ops leaders, including in her own family. Her father, mother and brother later died, allegedly in "accidents". She could not risk her own children by revealing all the state/federal secrets she knows in order to defend herself in court! However, our ********** Attorney General, ***************** himself, wrote court instructions to reverse the charges made against her. This has NOT been published, and none of her life's money, real estate, or even her real name have been returned to her, while the nasty articles remain. What if Bay Area News Group also can't risk telling the truth? PLEASE HELP ALL OF US, INCLUDING THE NEWSPAPERS, BY PUBLICLY DEMANDING THAT THEY NOT PUBLISH OR MAINTAIN ARTICLES ABOUT CRIMINAL ACCUSTIONS. These must be removed. The **** Government spends over $1 trillion a year of our taxpayer dollars on DISINFORMATION, while 30% of ALL American adults will be arrested. Sooner or later you, your family, and anyone you know could, and will be victims. Please respond, and band together for your own protection, and for all those you care about! Tell your family, friends, employers, groups and social media to do the same.Review from John R

After many years of excellent delivery service, for the last month the paper delivery has been abysmal; sometimes it arrives, sometimes it doesn't. Talking with **************** has not resolved the issue. It appears that the owners of the Mercury News are trying their hardest to essentially get out of the business of generating hard copies of a newspaper.Bay Area News Group Response

Our sincere apologies for the service interruption. The Distributor is actively looking for a carrier and or substitutes to fill the route. We continue to support the Distributor in this effort. We will credit your subscription for the missed deliveries.Review from Colette K

I am extremely disappointed in the subscription service to the San **** Mercury News. Since March 1, I have not been receiving the paper. I am a long time subscriber and this is the first time that the paper has not been delivered to my home for an extended period of time. I call each day to schedule a redelivery and the automated machine states it has notified my carrier and scheduled a redelivery. A redelivery has not happened. Since my subscription is paid through April 2023, I expect better customer service than this. It is the District Manager to ensure that newspapers get delivered and have a reliable alternative to delivering a replacement.I also did not get the Special Edition released on March 5, 2023 that comes with my subscription. I expect a full refund of my subscription through April 2023, including the cost of the Special Edition for which I paid for in my subscription. I also expect a response from the editor of the San **** Mercury News as to why my paper is not being delivered and if there is even service coverage in my area. I am waiting for a response from the San **** Mercury News editor or his/her designated spokesperson.Bay Area News Group Response

Our sincere apologies. For the next 3 weeks there is a substitute carrier on this route. You should receive the paper by 7:30am during this time. We delivered the premium edition today and we added an additional month of delivery service to your subscription for the inconvenience. The regular carrier will be back on April 3rd. If you have any questions, please contact ********************************* Thank you for being a loyal reader.Review from Seana L

My mother has been a customer for over ********************************************** October and have yet to deliver it again. Between my mother's phone calls and mine (her daughter). They tell you the same thing every day. That it has been "escalated" and that they will request a new courier. To date, we have still received no paper, and they refuse to give a refund for the money that has been paid. We started our complaint with BBB, in hopes they can help us as well. But we are actively looking into bringing legal action against them as this is no way to treat their customers, as well as stealing money from a retired couple as they have paid for a service, they have not received. Our hope is that every customer drops their service with them as they are thieves!Review from Rosalie L

Bay Area News Group said I would get a check for $544.08 to put into my friend's account because the subscriber cannot read, hold or subscribe knowingly to a Newspaper. I now see she is getting yet another attempt fron ******** Newsgroup to charge her again. Not only are they refusing to refund the original unrequested subscription, they are complaining that they can't take more of my friend's money. No honesty. No stars.Bay Area News Group Response

Got a subscription notice in the mail for Mercury News, which I DID NOT sign up for. Now I have a bill for an invoice to pay and renewal subscription options for a CONTINUOUS SUBSCRIPTIOn which I never signed up for AT ALL. I don't what kind of shady scams this company is trying to do, but I can guarantee that I will not be the only one. Let's see how easy it will be for me to cancel for a service that I never signed up for, yet get billed for.Bay Area News Group Response

*********: I reviewed the call recording made to your home. The trial subscription was accepted by a young man who also gave us his Gmail address for our records. There is no obligation for him to pay for the subscription unless he wishes to continue delivery after the introductory trial period as was explained during the call. I will infer from your review that you do not wish to continue and have delivery stopped right away. Please thank him for his interest and feel free to contact me directly at ********************************* if you have further questions or concerns.
