Old National Bank bought our First Midwest Bank that we used to bank with. Since Old National bank took over, customer service and service in general is deplorable. The staff inside the bank buildings cannot/will not help resolve issues but make you call the customer servcie number and it takes literally hours to get anyone one the phone and often they hang up on you. This is true. We have a loan that Old National assumed when they bought First Midwest. We changed our banking to US Bank because Old National is terrible deal with. We make the loan payments via our online bill payment system from US Bank to Old National. US Bank sent out a loan payment check in the amount of $236.40 on 13 March 2024 and didn't cash it until 26 March 2024. I contacted US Bank to stop payment on the check on the 23 of March who said they did but apparently did not. I requested the check stopped because I noticed it was not cashed. I went to Old National Bank and on 23 March in person and the clerk confirmed they did not receive the check mailed on 13 March 2024. I paid the payment via check from US Bank on 23 March 2024 in the amount of $236.40. So, double payment has been made because of bad business practice on behalf of Old Natioanl Bank. I am with the idea that Old National Bank holds up posting payments to collect late payment fees from its customers. Why else would they take so long to process a payment and deny it was received? I want the amount of $236.40 returned to me because of double payment. They will only apply the payment to interest fees and not to the principal balance.

My complaint is not huge but it’s relatable to fellow customers. I had two issues that I thought would be understood. My account was overdrawn for two reasons. First I paid my NIPSCO bill and was told the date it would be withdrawn but it was done early which set my account up to be given the fee. Second is that I went to the gas station and purchased gas and snacks. I had a refund coming from the gas station because my gas payment off the card exceeded the amount of gas I purchased. When I went back into the station and requested my refund, I was told that the refund was to be put back on the card and they don’t give cash back. The issue is that when I received an alert about the over draft, the overdraft fee was more than or close to the amount it was in the negative. I sent a email requesting a waiver of the overdraft fees. The two issues were not my fault but I’ll take responsibility since it was my account. I believe that the over draft fee is given if the overdraft is more than $25.00. I believe my account was overdraft at 30 dollars. Discretion could have been given but apparently they either didn’t care or didn’t read the email I sent. I am a disabled veteran and I don’t think the bank cares about the customers more than the money. They don’t understand how 30 dollars fees effect people who’s main income is SSDI. Yes I knew the policy but a policy shouldn’t be put in place without considering what can happen when cases like mine come about. I get updates on my account but don’t believe I get notification's about overdrafts. In the 17 years I’ve been with this bank I’ve had issues only a few times and this is not the first time that this has happened. It is the first time I’m considering leaving. The staff is always nice and when I request a lollipop in the drive through they give it. I don’t qualify for the overdraft protection due to my bills from my second transplant. They don’t consider these issues when they make policy. I’ll pay the money and pray.
