    Sales? Dunno. Customer skills? Ambivalent at best. Service? Exorbitant and not transparent. I wanted both my older gas fireplaces working for the holidays, and since this store advertises 'service', I called them and scheduled a repair call. When I talked to the person there (let's call her "*****") I made clear that I had experienced other fireplace stores sending out a repair tech, assessing my fireplace system (admittedly over 20 years old) and pronouncing MY components as "junk", offering to replace everything with about $1400 worth of THEIR components and service, and charging me $300 for the experience. I stressed that I merely needed to get what I had up and running again. I made it clear that buying an all-new system was EXACTLY WHAT I DIDN'T WANT TO DO. $350 later, service guy rewired a wall switch, replaced both wall switches, cleaned and checked both fireplaces and they worked, at first- well, ONE does. The other did, briefly, but then went out that evening, and wouldn't relight. So, when I called ********** again, "*****" never seemed to be available; I emailed her about the issue and she sent back another estimate to get it to work: $302 for THEIR valve plus $38 for a switch- she characterized my components as 'junk'. Problem was that MY 'junk' valve was still in production and available brand new at any number of online retailers for about $100 and the switch, a conventional light switch, could be had at any big box home construction store for around $2.00. When I emailed back about why so much, she said she would have the tech follow up. Which never happened.Then I swung by the store and talked to "*****" directly; at first, she didn't even remember the situation, then she indicated it wasn't store policy to install customer-supplied components- ********** "couldn't make margin on parts" if they did that. As an effort at mediation, she gave me a printed sheet with a list of independent fireplace repair guys that I could call. So, $350 and 3 weeks later, I've got one working fireplace and a list of phone numbers.Make no mistake, this store is SALES oriented; the post-service-call support was APATHETIC, to put it politely- it's not where their revenue is made, so they really don't care. Their service for their products may (or may not) be satisfactory, but their service to the public in general is a bit shady, way too casual and self-serving.
