On October 13, 2021, Better Business Bureau contacted Mile High Decks & Hardscapes LLC concerning an advertising claim found on its website, http://milehighdecks.com/. Specifically, the company claims:

"Book now! 10% off through the end of February! "

"Permits & Inspections and 2 Year Warranty"

"About the owner 'Since 2000, he has managed the design and construction of nearly four hundred residential single-family projects that had a cost ranging from $50,000 to nearly $2 million. Ryan has spent the last 19 years of his career in outdoor and indoor construction.'"

"The Company is fully insured, maintaining continuously in effect General Liability, Non-Owned / Hired Auto and Worker’s Compensation insurances. Our sub-contractors are also required to carry the same insurances."

"Mile High Decks & Hardscapes has a “client first” focus It is a commitment to client service that flows from our teams work experience in residential and commercial construction and, especially, from the bachelors and graduate level education we require. We believe in putting the client first requires a high level of communication and dedication to making the building process pleasant and satisfying."

Use of stock photos in their company’s portfolio makes it seem like the photos are the company's work.

Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request.  All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.

Retailers can advertise sales where they are offering a significant reduction in price for a limited period of time. At the end of the sale period, retailers can, in good faith, convert the sale price to a new regular price if they no longer claim savings.

When using the term “warranty” or “guarantee” the advertiser should clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to the sale which could include putting it on the seller’s website. Advertisers should disclose any material limitations on a "satisfaction guarantee" or "money-back guarantee" and define, for consumers, the meaning of claims such as "lifetime guarantee."

The illustrations and overall layout of advertising should enhance the consumer's understanding of the offers and accurately represent the featured products and services.

In addition, BBB was unable to locate the company's contractor license. 

Despite written requests, as of October 27, 2021, Mile High Decks & Hardscapes LLC has not responded to BBB’s request for revisions and clarification in its advertising.
