Absolutely horrible company. I am signed up to receive text and email alerts for when I have a bill ready and when payments post. All was good until May when I just stopped receiving the alerts. I checked my account and it is showing I am still set up. My email and phone did not change. I called and the person I spoke to had no idea why it stopped working so he put in a trouble ticket. He told me that once it was fixed I would know as I would get alerts. He said if I didn't get an alert by the 12th of the next month to call back, No alert so I called back. This time I am told that it is an outage and it's not just me, no one is receiving alerts. They are aware of the issue and working on it. She had no idea how long before they would have it fixed. So I waited, 2 more months go by and still no alerts. So I call back. This time the guy tells me that there is nothing they can do and it's an outage that they have had for years. WHAT?? Clearly thats a lie because I was getting alerts 6 months ago and had been for years up to that point. He blows me off and says there is nothing they can do. I decided to check with a friend and guess what.. she is currently getting alerts! Clearly there is some issue with my account and they just refuse to fix it or even look into it. This is unacceptable. Unfortunately there is no other option for me to get electric!!! If there was I would NEVER do business with this company. If you have a choice I would recommend not using Delmarva.Review from Christopher G

On Friday, May 24, 2004, at 10 pm, my power went out and came back on May 25th, 2024. When the power returned, half of my house had power and half had no power. I called Atlantic ELectric and someone came out and told my husband that something needed to be replaced on the pole outside. The person said that a crew would come later that afternoon. Later on May 25th, the crew notified me that the problem was fixed and I was told to turn off the brakes and turn them back on. We still had the same problem. The man from Atlantic City Electric told me that the issue was inside my house and I needed to call an electrician. I had an electrician come to my house and after checking everything in my house he told me I needed to call Atlantic City Electric because there was not enough power coming from the lines to power my whole house and the distance from the house to the power tubes was not the acceptable distance. I called Atlantic City Electric on May 28th and I was told that someone will be out at 10 am. I took the day off from work so that I would be home. No one came and I did not receive a courtesy call to state that the time had changed. My husband was told 4 pm and when I called back, I was told 6 pm then 10 pm. I asked to speak to a supervisor and that was very rude she informed me they would be out at 10 pm. No one came out at 10 and then I got a call that would be out at midnight. Meanwhile, I was supposed to have a Memorial Day BBQ, but all my food spoiled and I had to throw it away because my fridge and freezer had no power. My air conditioner, water pump (NO WATER), outlets, and washer/dryer are all affected. The people at Atlantic City Electric are giving me the runaround. Today is May 29th and I still have THE SAME PROBLEM.Review from Gerald J

I’ve been with this service in my apartment complex for years and my patience is thin. Every time there is an issue I try being nice. This time there was a faulty meter issue. They had been overcharging tenants and not coming out to inspect meters. When complaints were brought up I was told “we weren’t important to deal with” by the company. Once I complained again they finally sent a technician out and stated if it was found to be faulty they would replace and credit the fix the billing. They fixed the meters but never contacted anyone back and never rectified the billing. When again sending a complaint, they only removed a portion of the bill and expected me to still pay for their error. I’ve been battling them since last August! They now refused to respond back properly to my calls and emails and only automated messages come to me, never an actual supervisor like I’ve requested multiple times over. This company is a nightmare on customer service!Review from Christine H

Absolute liars, thieves and cheats! I will be filing a formal complaint. After our electricity bill doubled with no increase in usage, their only response was "you obviously used more electric". I track the heck out of our usage. There are only LED bulbs in our house. We disconnected the outside power and the bill went up. Reduced and removed other possible sources, bill went up even more. God knows how old this "electric smart meter is", but it is obviously faulty, though they swear by it. I turned off the power at the main breaker, noting time, etc, and left it off for several hours. Yet according to their smart meter, we used more power than usual during this time as well. They refuse to take care of anything that they are responsible for. NO customer service.Review from Lorna S

I agree Delmarva Power is really gorging on these bills. I live in a 1 bedroom destination camper. I have power through the battery. It is just my husband and I. We both work during the day. My heat is propane. So not sure what is drawing so much power. My bill has been over $487 each month. I thought it was just me but a lot of people are saying their electric bills are in the same range or higher. I have called numerous time to get them out to check these meter. They said it is a smart meter and nothing is wrong. The more I complain the higher my bill becomes.Review from James I

Atlantic City Electric Review I just bought a house with a closure date on a Thursday, February 15, 2024 and wanted to move my electric from the seller to my account. Using their website I tried to pick Thursday to switch the service over to my name but the website did not allow it. When I tried to pick Friday, the day after the purchase, it was also still showing as not available and I had no option to switch until the following Tuesday (Monday being a holiday). According to NJ law "a utility may not shut-off residential service on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or a holiday or the day before a holiday". Based on this information it would make sense that they forced my date to the next available day because they may not shut it off. I had power when I left Thursday and when I returned Friday night no power. It was passed 7:00 which is when the regular service line is available. I called the emergency line, mind you that it is between 25-40 this weekend and they are rude, hang up on me and block my ability to call back in to get my electric on. According to them this is not an emergency so I guess if a customers house freezes, a pipe is at risk of bursting, it is not an emergency. I really hope there are alternatives to purchasing from this company because they will need to do a lot to make up this kind of bad business and indecency.Review from Runar W

Delmarva Power has been ripping us off, per tracking the Monthly usage of KWH, The bill comes to almost three times what is owed. We filed a complaint with the Fraud with The Trade Commission, also with the General Attorneys office in Delaware. Our total KWH usage costs after over 9 line items of extra BS charges, only comes to $630 for the past 7 months, YET we have a turn off Notice for 2-2-2024, And a bill for $916 when we have paid at average, $172 monthly because the past 7 months, We have paid a total of $1,209. Delmarva Power is Not getting away with this incorrect Billing anymore, We are tired of it! Also, We sent them an email that My husband was Laid off without warning on 1-4-2024, and the Greedy Pricks, Decided to send us a cut off notice on 1-18-2024, I want to take seek and attorney, my husband is 63 years old and How Cruel and Added unnecessary Stress that these HOGS send us a letter threatening a turn off notice if they dont $916!!!!! We are outraged and We filed complaints in three areas to get the Required attention of these THUGS.
