My salesman said he had been selling cars for Smedley’s for 6 years. I told him I could transfer funds to pay cash for a Chevy Blazer I loved, but it would take 5 days. The salesman said a down payment was needed to hold the car. Then the salesman said his sales manager, Joey, said they would find a short term, no fee loan lender, and he assured me I would pay only the “OTD” price he quoted. My husband went alone to look at the vehicle that evening. The salesman said this vehicle was in "high demand", and completed loan paperwork was necessary to hold the vehicle until Monday. I received a notice from the lender. The loan ended up being $1,543 higher than OTD price. It included a 48,000 mile warranty for $1,293; lender's fee of $250. The odometer read 5,000 miles. The manufacturer's warranty was 36,000. Crazy! I called Smedley's and spoke with Joey. Joey would not refund the money, I asked Joey if I could talk with Smedley’s owner, and he said he was. Joey said he had told his salesman NO early loan payoff fee, not that there would be NO charge for the short term loan. I told Joey the salesman had made the promise multiple times. Joey admitted the salesman had been there 6 months, not 6 years. He told me the sales department was separate from the finance department so the finance manager would not have been aware of salesman's promise. Joey did acknowledge that perhaps the salesman should have had some training of how loans actually work. Joey agreed to return warranty charge, but not $250 lender’s fee or loan interest owed. Joey said because the lender was a community bank and could not collect fees like other banks could, they charged $250 to open new account. I called lending institution, and they said they received $5 to set up the new account; Smedley’s retained $245. BEWARE: Smedley's is an unethical business and is making a nice profit on extended warranties and on each loan they process, on top of the document fees.Review from Stephanie Z

Would not call my bank, I walked in with a preapproval letter. They said to take a record of sales to my bank and bring back a check instead of being a real sales man. I gave Byron the information explained even to the manager what I was going through and he told me to go to my bank. They really do not want to deal with people who are not financing with them.Review from Anthony B

I bought my car here to be serviced. They called me and told me my car was ready I came to pick my car up after paying $629.76 for a diagnosis labor and parts just to find out my car is still having the same issues which was a smoking tailpipe jerking engine and no power to acceleration. They even stated in the notes of payment that my car was still smoking and may need additional work but failed to tell me this over the phone that my car was smoking still and still needs work done even after they did what they did which would’ve been more understandable than telling me this in my invoice notes after giving them a payment for repairs they claimed they did. And then they tried to charge me another $165 for another diagnostic test so they can troubleshoot it more after they already knew I was gone to need additional work and that my car was still smoking the same way it was before I bought it in to be repaired. And they are failing to fix the GM service issue with the turbo charger going out.Review from Rick W

I placed a deposit/reservation to be able to place an order when Chevy starts taking orders on the EV Blazer. The reservation was placed online through Chevy. Chevy then forwards the $100 to the dealership you select. The reservation is refundable if you cancel. I canceled the reservation and cant get my money back. I think this dealership is broke. The will not return my money. General motors and myself have contacted Smedleys a lot over the past 2 months and the sales manager hides behind the phone and will not return calls.Review from Jeff H

This company claims to be family run and operated. After "leading me to believe" there would be two sets of keys, i was given one set. Once this subject was approached, I was told they cant get me another key due to the fact, they took 800$ off the price of the car and I'm responsible. Horrible customer service by "Beau" not sure of his role, but he is the person that was yelling at me on the phone. He told me that Customer Service doesn't matter anymore! Finance forgot to have me sign all documents so they are sending someone 45 miles to have me sign the paperwork. I asked if now would be a good time to negotiate for a second key since they NEED something from me and I WANT something from them. This was met with STRONG disagreement and how "Oh I see what kind of person you are" and " I don't appreciate how you are talking to my finance MGR" I was never anything but pleasant and cordial to her since she was not the person that could get me a second key. If Ohio had a right to rescind clause don't think I wouldn't invoke it. Never will I give my hard earned money To Smedley "Family" Chevrolet. BUYER BEWAREReview from Don H

The finance term was 3 months longer than was originally approved by the finance company which required an additional half point of interest. Smedleys worked with the finance source an secured a goodwill exception on behalf of the customer. The customers accusations are completely false and without merit.Review from Jared B

I would 100% never buy from this place again I really wish I would have read the reviews before going to see Smedley'S because it sounds like they put alot of junk on the lot and sale it as is...I bought a truck from them and within 3 days of having it the check engine light came on and it started shaking on the high way well come to find out the transmission fluid was about 2 qts low and black and on top of that the Is catalytic converter was bad which I believe they knew about and cleared the code and sold it to me anyways now I would be talking to a lawyer to give them this truck back as clearly after reading the reviews in this place they have done this to alot of people!!!Smedley's Chevrolet Sales Response

The vehicle was offered for sale "As Is" due to the age and mileage of the unit. We offer for sale a limited amount of "As Is" vehicles to provide affordability. A safety inspection was completed with no defects noted. The allegation that Smedley's knew the catalytic converter was bad and cleared the code is without merit. We are sincerely sorry for your dissatisfaction.Customer Response
