    My travel partner, ******** ***** and I purchased travel insurance from this company for a trip that was to occur 6/26/23- 7/6/23. On the day of the trip we arrived at ****** ************* Airport to find that our ****** flight had been delayed. Initially a short delayed but the delayed kept getting extended. (We were to leave at 615 and arrive in ******* at 7:38 then fly on to ********* arriving at 11:33am). Our flights were made by ********* cruise Line as part of our package. We needed to board our cruise by 2pm. Our final flight delay estimation was 610 min delay. This caused us to never leave ******. We knew that even if we eventually arrived in *********, we would miss our cruise boarding. We made attempts to find alternate flights but none were available. As a result, we called our travel agent and she spoke to Travel Insured International explaining our situation and that we would be filing a claim for trip reimbursement. 7 month and multiple correspondences later, we received a check for $500. We believe that under our policy we should have been reimbursed for our full trip expense approximately $4300. We have gone back and forth trying to getting an explanation of why they paid out the claim the way they did as it was our understanding/ interpretation of the policy as well as our travel agents that we would be fully reimbursed. Every time we call we get the runaround and never actually get to speak to a manager. We have to request a call back and then if we miss the callback, we have to call and request another callback. They never leave a direct number/ extension for us to speak with the person who called us. We have sent correspondences to their claims appeal email address that have gone unacknowledged.

    I purchased a travel insurance protection plan on June 12, 2023 for a tour going to ****** that was supposed to leave on October 23, 2023. After the Hamas terrorism in ****** on October 7, 2023, Travel Insured sent me an email the next day stating that my policy was affected. Their website also stated that all trips to ****** purchased before October 10, 2023 would be honored, but that they would no longer trips to ****** going forward. My trip was canceled on October 10 for obvious reasons. I filed a claim with Travel Insured and received numerous emails apologizing for the delay processing the claim. I finally received a call from an agent named Angie, who informed me that my policy would not be honored, but she gave no sufficient reason. I contacted Jenn N******* my travel agent in *********** who sold me the policy and she contacted Mike her representative at Travel Insured. She had never had any issues with this company before. My travel agent Jenn got a three-way call between Mike from Travel Insured and Brad B***** the owner of ********* *****, based out of ******** Mike said there was a way forward and Brad sent a rewritten letter to him. Mike was supposed to meet with the executive board in January 2024 and report back to Jenn. Jenn calls every week and each time he tells her that there’s going to be a positive outcome. The delay game is still being played. I paid $427 for this insurance. I would like my refund of $4995 and for Travel Insured to make good on their word. I have already filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs, and today I am sending documents to the Connecticut Insurance Commission in Hartford.

    The insured’s claim review was completed on November 07, 2023, and a claim appeal was received on November 08, 2023, from the insured’s Travel Supplier, ********* ****** The claim decision was upheld, and an appeal decision letter sent to the insured on November 14, 2023. No further communication or information was received from the insured since that date. The insured’s trip was postponed by the Travel Supplier on October 10, 2023, at which time the insured was advised the Travel Supplier was working with the group leader/pastor to reschedule the tour. The insured was offered the option to apply their funds to the rescheduled tour or to cancel completely. The insured chose to cancel their participation in the rescheduled tour. The plan provides coverage for the unused, forfeited, prepaid non-refundable Payments or Deposits paid for the Travel Arrangements if “17. a Terrorist Incident occurs before Your Trip within 30 days of Your Scheduled Departure Date in a city listed on the scheduled itinerary of Your Trip. Provided Your Travel Supplier (if applicable) did not offer a substitute itinerary;”. As the insured’s Travel Supplier offered a refund in the form of a travel credit to be used for a future trip, the claim is not eligible for coverage. Furthermore, ********* ***** offered a substitute itinerary in the form of a rescheduled trip and so the insured’s claim does not qualify for reimbursement. While we sympathize with the insured’s situation, we are required to adjudicate all claims according to the terms and conditions of the coverage purchased.
