    In August 2017, BBB investigated Westside Automotive Group’s, business practices. This investigation was prompted by the Ad Review BBB conducted due to this business sending consumers deceptive mailing and trade-in claims. Consumer informed and provided BBB with images of a letter they received in the mail that appeared to be official government mailing.

    BBB informed the Cleveland Postal Inspector of the letter.

    On 8/17/2017, BBB sent an email to Westside Automotive Group with information about the Deceptive Mailings Prevention Act of 1990 and the BBB Code of Advertising that states the primary responsibility for truthful and non- deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.
    BBB asked Westside Automotive Group to review the mailing in light of the BBB standard and law and to respond within seven days with a resolution. 
    BBB did not receive a response.
