I am attaching this letter I wrote to The collection agency as it includes all the information : Dear FABCO Representative: I am disputing this debt of 828.66. I lived at Countryside Apartments for close to 3 years, always paid my rent and utilities on time and did not have issues although the apartment hall entryway was dirty and had a bad odor and the apartment rugs had obviously not been cleaned prior to my move-in. However, during the summer of 2022, I did notice some bedbugs in my apartment and informed my apartment manager, Brittney E. I cooperated with prepping my apt for the heat treatment and was told I needed to pay C&F Countryside $800 for the treatment. I asked who they were using to treat my apartment and Ms. ***** would not disclose the company nor did I receive an invoice or report from the treating company. This is a major issue since I have no idea what the company really charges for bedbug eradication but I paid for this service. After the treatment, I had the carpets steam cleaned, bought interceptors for the bed frame legs to monitor and cleaned baseboards and encased my mattress. No further evidence of bedbugs noted by me or my parents. I asked if the company they used would come out for a reinspection and provide a statement that my apt was bedbug free. After many attempts, Ms. ***** finally scheduled the company for a reinspection, on Dec 21, 2022. I was told verbally that no bedbugs were found. When I asked for a written statement, Protective Thermal Solutions (I asked the company name since Ms. ***** would not disclose this), stated I would need to get the statement from Ms. *****. She refused to provide this. Then I was told that my lease would not be renewed so I moved out on Dec 31 and cleaned every room which included steam cleaning the carpets. My mother and I took pictures. No evidence of bedbugs was found. When I asked about my deposit on January 5 in an email, Ms. ***** did not reply. On February 2, I received a billing statement, showing a bill for a bedbug treatment on 1/25 (almost 1 month after I had moved out) for $913.75 – my deposit she wasn’t returning for a total of $828.66. She claimed a “live bb found in small bedroom” on 1/25 and a heat treatment was completed. Finally, I have no evidence a bedbug was found and even a treatment was completed on 1/25. I moved out on 12/31/22 and was given a verbal report that my apt was bedbug free during the reinspection on 12/21/22. I received the bill from Ms. ******** on Feb 2, 2023 and within 4 days, Feb 6, received your collections notice. ****** ******
