Capps plumbing replaced my 86 year old widowed mother's water heater and charged her $3023.00. The work was performed on a Friday afternoon. I got quotes after the work was done for $1500 and another for $1550.00 I spoke to the owner and he said there was a mistake and offered a small refund if I removed my review. I just want people to know that I believe they took advantage of my Mom and I encourage people to get quotes from companies other than Capps.Capps Plumbing & Sewer Inc Response

*****, we appreciate the opportunity to have discussed the work performed for your mother and are sorry we weren't able to come to an amicable resolution. We did offer a partial refund for her services. Unfortunately, we couldn't come to an agreement. We respect your right to a second opinion and always recommend our clients make the best decision for them and their budget. You mentioned these price comparisons during our phone call, and they were for a tank installation during regular business hours which is comparable to our price. However in this case, we performed the work on emergency and installed various parts to bring your mom's tank to State code. If you are able to get a quote that is an exact comparison, we would be happy to review it and discuss this matter further. Thank you!Review from Jennifer C

May 2022 Capps looked at a toilet that had been running for months. I tried fixing it, put new guts in the tank and it still ran. After looking at it, they couldn't figure it out and told me I had to buy a new one. The bill was $729!The toilet rocked every time I sat on it and the tank leaned against wall ruining the paint. It rocked so much that I thought i was going to fall. After a couple of months, I called in Aug 2022. They adjusted it by shoving shims under it. Fast forward to end of September/early October 2023, the toilet was running again. Called Capps. The guy said, if it's what I think it is, then it'll be about $300 to fix. I said I can buy a new toilet for less than that! And the guts for a toilet are $40! He said I'm actually saving you money because if you buy a new toilet I'll charge you $300 to install it. I said no thank you. I wasn't paying them that kind of money! I found a plumber in ***********. He changed the guts, problem solved. June 2023 I noticed water damage to my kitchen ceiling. I honestly thought it was water getting behind my old siding due to the proximity of the outside wall and where the damage was. Never thought a toilet installed by professionals was the problem. Long story short February 2024 realized the toilet leaked every time it was flushed! My friend and I took the toilet off and discovered that the new wax ring was put on top of the old one! Plumbing 101 - remove the old ring and clean the ****** before putting a new ring on! Capps denied any responsibility, saying there is no way to prove it was a bad install. They gave me $200 to make me happy and keep my business! Here's the kicker, I used them for the past 8 years because my family knew their family. They said $200 covers their obligation. Fine, but you aren't keeping my business. I will no longer refer them. It's obvious it was a bad install. I hired a contractor to clean mold, cut out bad drywall, patch, tape, mud and paint. As discussed in great length, there were multiple factors involved in this matter that went against our warranty policy. The issue was reported beyond the 1-year warranty period for labor and material. Also, the toilet was manipulated by another party (prior to contacting us) which prevented us from determining if there was an actual defect in either labor or material. It was because of our longstanding relationship that we chose to provide you with a refund to help with some of the financial burden you experienced. We feel we went beyond our duties in providing any refund at all, and we're sorry to hear you remain dissatisfied with our services. Please call us at ************ to speak directly with our management team.Review from Laura R

Unethical, unprofessional, not honest. The only thing this company is good for is billing people, and ridiculous prices at that. Charged $817 for diagnosing a leak, that they could not find. The only thing they said to replace was the overflow plate and gasket, which I did, but that wasn't the cause. Then a week later, they said it was waste and overflow with p/trap, which they could replace for another $862.GUESS what? Another company came out to diagnose the leak for only $200, and said that THAT did NOT need to be replaced. Turns out to behind the shower and tub wall plumbing and faucet fixtures. WOW. Additionally, the plumbers lied on the invoices saying I declined it to be repaired, to cover themselves.Capps Plumbing & Sewer Inc Response

*****, were so sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our services. We reviewed your account and found we were hired by your condominium association for an emergency leak investigation in various units. Because we were hired by your association, we sent them the invoice because we can only charge the party that hired us. We do work for over 100 different properties with different bylaws, and those bylaws dictate who is financially responsible which can result in a charge back to a unit owner. We did find the source of the leak and provided you with a repair estimate. Please call us at ************ to discuss this matter in greater detail with our management team. We hope to hear from you soon.Review from Vicente C

Dishonest people. I used CAPPS because I had water back up in my toilet and bathtub. They rodded the main line for 1 hour and they told me that we had water flowing again. They suggested that I needed a clean out project done ASAP because they televised the main line and they told me that they were 100% I did not have an excising clean out line. In less then a week, my bathtub and toilet was backing up again. I looked around the front yard and personally found the clean out cap. Horrible work. Even with the camera they were not able to determine that there was an existing clean out line. Do Not ***************** Horrible experience!Capps Plumbing & Sewer Inc Response

Dishonest people. The company quoted me $78 for initial visit. They ended up charging $200 for consult fees. When I called the company they said consult was $125 per half hour after first 15 minutes. The capps technician was only at the house for 15 minutes at the very most. So the math does not add up. They so quoted $700 to replace the faucet. I called the manager and he said it shouldve only costed $615 so I dont know where the $85 came from. Lastly they diagnosed my sink as no leak. I checked again this evening and there was a 1 foot rotted out wet spot under the drain. Of course there has to be a leak for this to occur. I wont be using this company again in the future.Capps Plumbing & Sewer Inc Response

Service was horrible. If I could give them 0 stars I would. They rip people off and take advantage when they think the customer is not knowledgeable about the repairs. Capps came out because we had a leak in our shower head on a Sunday. They were at my house for approximately 45 minutes, and they charged me $609.62. Their initial price was $400 but when the repair man was there for an extra 15 minutes the owner or manager told him he had to charge us an additional $200. The $609.62 was simply to give me an emergency quote for my repair. Their diagnostic was also wrong they provided me with an quote for my repair for an additional $1000.00 dollars. I consulted another company they told me I did not need the part repaired that Capps said I needed. It was clear they gave me a bad diagnostic so they could make more money off of me.Capps Plumbing & Sewer Inc Response
