I contacted Chicagoland Moving and Storage for an estimate to move from the ******* area to the *********** area. After several phone calls, emails and an on-site inventory visit, they sent me a binding quote for almost $8,000. Everything looked good, so I signed the quote to lock in my move date, as suggested by the company representative. A few hours later everything changed. The company representative called and stated they could no longer honor the signed binding quote because my move was dependent on another move which was now questionable. They offered to complete my move with no other dependencies for an additional $3,000. $11,000 for a small move from ******* to *********** is completely out of line, so I cancelled the move. After 2 weeks of working closely with Chicagoland to secure a safe and trustworthy move, I now had to start all over again. Chicagoland failed to disclose to me verbally or in writing that my move was dependent on any other moves. Chicagoland also failed to honor their binding estimate which they represented as a dedicated / designated move. Given these mis-representations, I no longer trusted Chicagoland to be honest and trustworthy. I also wondered what additional hidden details would show up later and how they can change the terms of a signed binding quote at their sole discretion.In reality, my dedicated move turned out to be a conditional dedicated move where the condition was never disclosed by Chicagoland. The alternatives offered to increase the cost by $3,000 or keep the move scheduled and hope the other move would happen were completely unreasonable.Additionally, the total weight estimated at 8,000 pounds used to calculate the cost seemed very high to me and inconsistent with other related information. I questioned the estimate for several reasons, but was assured by the company representative it was accurate. My reasons were: Chicagoland moved my items 2 years ago and at the time, their weight estimate was 2,000 poundsA move similar to mine which included some very heavy furniture was 3,500 poundsAnother estimate I received was 3,000 to 5,000 ********** also stated a 16-foot truck would be used. I was later informed 8,000 pounds exceeds the weight capacity of a 16-foot truck. Make your own choice, but do you want to do business with a company that withholds important information, misrepresents their binding estimate, does not provide full disclosure, provides questionable weight estimates and can change the terms of a binding quote at any time?
