Mr. ********************** provided an initial draft of my tax returns on March 12 with the information I provided. On March 18 I noticed what seemed to be an explicit contradiction between Mr. **********************'s instructions and IRS guidance.On March 21, after a few emails, I quoted IRS guidance that seemed to contradict their instructions. I asked whether we should request an extension. His reponse on March 22:"I cannot debate this issue with you at this time, and will file an extension as you have requested"I'm not a tax expert: I asked for clarification, had no intention of debating.I left the conversation at that, with more questions than answers:- I hadn't requested an extension, I asked whether we should file one - I was charged $339 for filing the extension: a form with my contact info and two numbers. The fee seemed excessive.- I was confused: why would a CPA refuse to discuss my tax return? I'm legally liable for any inaccuracies in the tax forms, it is my responsibility to ask for clarification if I don't understand I asked a few questions about my ******** return on March 23. I did not receive an answer for 2 weeks. I emailed again. A fragment: "The deadline is approaching fast, if you can't work on my return please let me know so I can find someone else.".A fragment of his response: "We are working hard to complete many returns, so threats do not go over very well here"Once again, questions were not welcome.After one more update from them, tax forms were still unclear, I provided more details and asked questions on April 11. No response from them in 3 weeks. Past the filing deadline I asked for a refund, which they declined, claiming they "completed all work as contracted for on a timely basis, and responded to your enquiries".I did not get a tax return either for the ** or ****** that I was comfortable signing. They expressely discouraged me from asking questions twice. Definitely not within my expectations, definitely not timely.
