April 2020.While updating our laundry room and our lower bathroom, we discovered black mold in our lower bathroom that came from a leak from our upper bathroom. We moved into my Mother-In-Laws home and started contacting several contractors regarding getting it resolved. ****** was one of 7 contractors who quoted the job and came in with the best price(not the cheapest, but the best for what we wanted) as well as the quickest timeline to get it done. What started as an initial quote of $25,000 to do both bathrooms and a laundry room quickly became $90,000 by the time we signed the paperwork because we were desperate to get it done and moved back into our home(3 kids and 2 adults sleeping on air mattresses and a pull out sofa made us miss our beds). We signed the paperwork and work started a few days later(most of the demo work had already been done by me before they started). When we signed the paperwork, ****** stated that the project would be done and we would be moved back in within a week. It took 2 months for the work to be completed. When doing several inspections throughout the process, we raised numerous issues, many of which were brushed off and settled by fast talking. Mr. ******************** is a very likeable man and I'm sure he means well, but, during our job, he had several health issues come up that resulted in him not being around for much of the construction and left us feeling uneasy with pushing harder on the job. By the time we hit the 2 month ****, we were desperate to move back home so we washed our hands of all the things that were wrong and asked him to get it finished. We have a doorway that wasn't finished being closed off(was closed off and mudded once, but never sanded or floated or re-mudded to make it look good), a linen closet with no shelves, no paint in the Linen closet, no trim in the Linen closet, venting from the bathroom that leaks, cheap glass tile that turns different colors when wet, grout lines that are not even or even properly cleaned up(grout it still on the tiles), tiled floor that is uneven, caulk that didn't last a year(causing a leak into the lower bathroom again, which started the remodel in the first place), cheap materials(plastic tubs, ****** specials Vanities[my wife found everything he bought at ****** and our cost would've been less than $6kfor everything, including the drywall, bathtubs, toilets, etc.]), grout that turned ***** less than a week after being applied, grout that wasn't even sealed(I asked the guy doing it how often I had to reseal the grout and his answer was "You have to seal grout?"), bathtub fixtures that are loose and wobbly, they never fully gutted the bathroom(they left the old door and trim up and put wallboard up to it when we said a full gutting with new everything), paint on the cabinets that was never cleaned up, no thresholds installed, leaks that occurred after we moved back(they never finished fixing the drywall around the shower head in the bathroom so I finally finished it), the pipes in the laundry room were never hidden like they were supposed to be, the ceiling is uneven in the laundry room, window trim is still unfinished in the laundry room, our brand new water softener had PVC cement dripped on it and it won't come off, bathroom vanities that have massive sections cut out of the back of them.Mr. ******************** very well might have a wonderful business and mean well but his sub contractors and workers definitely didn't do the type of work that he showcases
