BBB entered details of complaint through phone call from consumer:
Consumer states he went to Columbus Auto Resale about a year ago to buy a car and was approved. However, business first told him his check was not real, and the deal could not be approved. Later, the business said all was okay and they had a car for him. He gave them $1,000 down payment and the total financing was $7,000.
He signed the paperwork, took the car home, but business told him to bring it in the next day for inspection. He took it to the dealership and the maintenance repair technician asked him why he was sold this car, as it was just purchased and brought in from an auction and it was not yet checked out. The maintenance man then gave him the car back without inspecting anything.
Consumer states he started having problems with the car, so he called Columbus Auto Resale and they would not do anything. He purchased it as is - no warranty. He asked for a different car, but they refused. Consumer states he did not pay on the car, as he felt they were selling him a car that was never checked out by them and the car had problems.
Consumer states the dealership never called him about non-payment nor did he receive calls from a collection agency. Consumer said the car was on the street and was towed, but he does not know where it was towed nor who towed it. He does not know where it is.
Consumer states this is now appearing on his credit reports.
